A Year Ago Today: The Proposal

Jim: So this morning, we are having breakfast together…and I just looked up from my cereal and I said, “You know what I wanna do today? I wanna marry you.”
Pam: I had just woken up. I didn’t look cute. That’s how I knew he meant it. –The Office

A year ago tonight, Match asked me to marry him. I can’t believe it’s only been a year! So much has happened and our lives have changed so drastically in just 12 months.

I remember thinking in that moment that I couldn’t be happier. But I am, because now I’m not just Match’s fiancée, I’m his wife. Here we are about to spend our first Christmas together as a married couple. We’re starting new traditions and our life together is just beginning. At the risk of sounding cheesy, Match, you really are the best Christmas present I could ever ask for!

Match and the Proposal

Lily: Hey. I’m just sitting here. Wearing my ring. My beautiful ring. Kinda makes wearing other stuff seem wrong. Like… my shirt. Kinda don’t wanna wear my shirt any more. Or my underwear. Oh, that’s right, I’m not wearing any.
Marshall: [stops working and looks at Lily] No underwear?
Lily: Not even slightly.
[Camera pans to show Ted is in the room]
Ted: Guys…boundaries! –How I Met Your Mother

As promised, I will give you the details of the proposal. Now that we’re back from Oregon I can also give you better pictures of the ring. So here’s the story of how Match asked me to marry him. 🙂 Continue reading Match and the Proposal

He Liked it, He Put a Ring On It

Monica: You wanted it to be a surprise.
Chandler: Oh my God.
Monica: Chandler… in all my life I never thought I’d be so lucky as to fall in love with my best — my best — There’s a reason why girls don’t do this!
Chandler: Okay, okay, I’ll do it. I thought: wait, I can do this. I thought that it mattered what I said or where I said it. Then I realized the only thing that matters is that is that you — you make me happier then I ever thought I could be. And if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life making sure you feel the same way. Monica, will you marry me?
Monica: Yes! I knew you were likely to take a wife!
Joey: Can we come in yet? We’re dying out here!
Monica: Come in! Come in! We’re engaged!
Joey: Yeah, you are! –Friends

More to come…but I just wanted to share. 🙂

People That Get Us

Let’s be honest. Sometimes there is nothing harder in life than being happy for somebody else. -Carrie, Sex and the City

I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this setback while in a relationship-your friends. When you have friends that aren’t happy in love, it is extremely hard to hang out, when you’re on cloud 9. I’ve been going through a rough patch with one of my good girlfriends, Reality Check. She’s been very unhappy in love, and it seems like there is constant drama surrounding her. It used to be ok-we’d go out, bitch about men, and I’d be in the same boat as her. Still even on those occasions, she’d be rude to new guys that would approach, and she’s always been the Miranda of my friends: fairly bitter and most of the time hates men. While I get that she’s unhappy, does that really prevent her from being happy for me? I couldn’t even tell her about Match wanting me to get my ring size, or how eager he is to get engaged. When I told her about it, she made a face and immediately started whining about her latest relationship disaster.
