Project 52 Update-The Unemployed Project

Monica: Chandler, I’m unemployed and in dire need of a project. You wanna work out? I can remake you.
Chandler: Oh, you know, I would, but that might get in the way of my lying-around time. –Friends

It has been a little over a week of my new “retirement” status and I have to say I am loving it. I think I may have started out just a bit overzealous because I am exhausted. I’ve been making to do lists every day and here is what I have accomplished so far:

-Deep cleaned the entire house including: dusting, wiping down all the blinds, using wood oil on the cabinets, swept, vacuumed and moped the house, unclogged the drains, scrubbed the toilets until they sparkled, and cleaned out the fridge. It is now worthy of MTV Cribs in case they decide to come over.

-Spray painted the doggy toy basket. It was once an ugly light wicker and is now black. It doesn’t stand out so much and it looks better against our hardwood floors.

-organized Match’s dresser drawers and made a donation pile. Yes honey I know you love those sleeveless workout shirts but they ugly. They ugly.

-scooped the dog poo in the backyard. This was a CHALLENGE as I’d been neglecting it for the last 3 months. Ew.

-worked out every day during the week, including jogging. Happened to jog past the jail right as Match and his fellow deputies were leaving the parking lot in route to another location. What are the odds? Luckily I was wearing an all black running outfit and I actually looked kind of cute. Match told me later that they were all checking me out and Match said, “She’s kind of short. Wait, THAT’S MY WIFE!” 🙂 Thank god I wasn’t wearing my usual over-sized stained sweatshirt and baggy sweats!

-worked on a slideshow for my Grandmother’s 75th birthday party. This is time consuming and so far I’ve just edited photos.

-Continued to keep up with my lovely bloggy friends and showered you all with comment love. Also wrote blog posts for your enjoyment (well mostly my enjoyment, let’s be honest!).

-Balanced our budget and researched ways to make money online. This first month is going to be our toughest since Match’s raise won’t take affect until next month. Getting creative with savings. Who needs lights on during the day? 😉

-Worked on Project 52 and continue to cross things off my list.

-Made some yummy meals for Match and looking at new recipes. Cooking on a budget is creativity in itself. I think tonight’s dinner will be “pantry dinner” meaning anything I can make with what we have on hand. Should be interesting!

So what are you working on this week?

Match the Housewife/Entreprenuer

Monica: Wow! I had no idea you had this much pride.
Chandler: That’s right! I do! And I’m your man. And I’m going to get us through this situation even if it means you working twice as hard. –Friends

I mentioned a few months ago that Match got a new job. We both thought this would be a big break towards a good career, but as soon as he started he realized it wasn’t for him. His boss was horribly disorganized, had shady business practices, and He started coming home stressed out and upset every night, and would snap at me and just wasn’t himself. So after giving the job two months, and after consulting with me, we agreed that he would be better off focusing on his internship at the firehouse, and starting our cleaning company up again.

Friday was his first day of self employment/housewife duty, and I came home to a clean house, bathed dog (neither of which I asked for!) and these:
thank you flowers
He said the flowers were a thank you for believing in him, and for supporting his decision to quit his job. He said he was sorry for how stressed out he got while working there, and he knew how much it affected me. He said he appreciated that I stood by him and knew that even though he was quitting, he would find a way to contribute and make ends meet.  Wasn’t that sweet?
