September ended on a wonderful note, when we found out we were pregnant again. I didn’t blog about it until a little while later of course. :-)September was the month that lots of joy came back into our household. Join us next week for the final recaps, October, November, December, as well as 5 goals/hopes you have for the new year.
Hailey: And you’re hiking out in biker boots and jeans?
Dean: Sweetheart, I don’t do shorts.-Supernatural
Match and I went on couple of big hikes this past month. The first one we took was to Mount Tamalpais, to attempt to escape the heat. It worked til about midday, and then the sun came out in full force. Can I tell you how nice it has been to get out of the house on a weekday, instead of tolling away in the office as a pc mechanic? I love that we never battle crowds on our mid week outings.
Here’s us with the marine layer still out. The cool air felt amazing!
Me, being the graceful lady that I am, slipped and fell about five minutes into our hike. Ouch!
While we were hiking along, we happened to see a mountain lion! Luckily it was pretty far away. It was still a little spooky, but also kind of awesome to see one out in the wild like that.
Here’s the view from the top of the mountain. We could see the entire bay. We really rock those matching camo hats don’t we?
The second hike we did this month was today, on the other side of the bay, Mount Diablo. This was supposed to be a leisurely hike, that turned strenuous at the end. It was only 3.67 miles one way, so we thought it’d be pretty easy. Little did we know that the last few miles were UP. We were also delusional and thought that it would be cooler because of the marine layer. Boy were we wrong!
Here is the start of the hike, with all of that lovely shade.
Mid-hike break for a sweaty kiss.
Starting the really steep part of the climb.
There is something to be said about tackling something physically demanding. Pushing through the pain and finishing a goal feels amazing. That’s how it felt to reach the top of that trail.
The cold shower, beer, and foot rub I had from Match all made the hike worthwhile. I love that Match is my hiking buddy, and I’m looking forward to our next trek. Hopefully the weather will start cooling down so they’ll be a bit more enjoyable, and less us battling heat stroke!
Justin : I had a weird dream last night.
Rebecca : Yeah ?
Justin : Yeah that your mother and my sister were singing show tunes in tomato-red dresses.
Rebecca : That’s so bizarre,’cause I actually had the exact same one only in my dream, we found out we were orphans.
Justin : That’s a good dream. All right, tell me more.
Rebecca : Well, then we decided to sail off to thailand, and there were pirates.
Justin : I like pirates.
Rebecca : I know. Tell me yours.
Justin : Okay, mine. I’m a doctor and, you … you are an amazing photographer. And on sundays we go for walks on the beach or we can go hiking with our dog buster.
Rebecca : Does it have to be buster ?
Justin: Marry me. I’m serious.
Justin: That’s the dream I want. I want to be a doctor and I want to be a husband and I want to be a father and it’s all because of you, Rebecca.
Justin: God, you make everything feel possible. You make me possible. –Brothers & Sisters
Saturday Match and I had one of the best Saturdays we’ve had together in a long time. The weather was beautiful, sunny but cold and crisp, the perfect fall day. We decided to go for a hike at Jack London National Park, just a short drive from where we live. Not only was it a great excuse to spend some quality time together, but I figured hiking could be how to lose belly fat before the holidays. One can only hope right? We started out by touring through the Jack London museum, where we learned all kinds of things about the late writer. The life he led with his wife Charmian sounded so romantic! They traveled all over the world by boat, they designed and built their dream home together, and even though it burned down before they could move in, it must have been fun to do that together. They had a beautiful cottage where they held grand dinner parties and I couldn’t help but be envious. To live in a time where people dressed up and dinners were an event. And to live out in the countryside, with acres of land and nothing else but beautiful wilderness and quiet. Continue reading Hiking in Jack London Park→
Cindy: And be extra careful on those deep hiking trails.
Brenda: We will.
Cindy: And be sure to head back to the camp well before dark!
Brenda: We will.
Cindy: And make sure those boys stay on top of you…when you’re hiking, that is.                                                                             –Beverly Hills, 90210
As I’ve mentioned before, Match and I are slowly getting to know a new group of friends. Couple Friends are a part of the group, along with Drama Chick and B. They’re a fun bunch, and the group mostly consists of couples, which is nice for us. We hung out a lot with one of these couples on Prom Night. It turns out they love going hiking and doing outdoor stuff as much as we do, so I’ve nicknamed them Outdoor Couple. Continue reading Hiking With Outdoor Couple→
Lisa::Â (reading)Â Come to Homer’s BBBQ – The extra B is for BYOBB.
Bart:Â What’s THAT extra B for?
Homer:Â That’s a typo.
Last weekend our camping trip was canceled because DC was busy with graduation plans. It was all for the best since Memorial Weekend was sure to be way too crowded at the lake. Match and I made the best of his rare full weekend off, and spent the weekend outdoors bbqing and hanging with friends. I got a great tan, and we both enjoyed each other’s company.
