2012 Review Extravaganza-Week 4

Lily: Hey baby, how’d it go?
Marshall: Lily, this year, this nasty schoolyard bully of a year will not stop punching me in the face. How did we kick off 2011? My dad died. And now, after five months of unemployment, I just blew my dream job. Good news is, in a few seconds, I’m gonna start heaving my guts out because that’s what life is to me now: just losing what’s inside until I’m just empty.
Lily: Baby, come here.
Marshall: I just want to shut my eyes for a few seconds before it starts.[Marshall goes to his bedroom and lies down.]
Future Ted: And Marshall slept…[the set darkens and then lights up again] All night.[Marshall wakes up to find out that he hadn’t gotten sick at all. In a later scene, Lily comes into the room]Marshall: Lily, it’s a miracle! I didn’t get sick! I-I-I didn’t get sick.
Lily: I know, baby. [reveals a pregnancy tester in her hands] … I’m pregnant.

Miss PhD moved nearby, and I was overjoyed to have my close friend here. Match and I visited the pumpkin patch and kicked off one of my favorite seasons, Fall. I announced our Rainbow baby, Piglet on the blog, giving you all a reason to break out the fuente cigars to celebrate along with us!

Janette and I hosted a fun little giveaway on our blogs, and I reached the 8 week first small milestone of my new pregnancy.

and I posted about the many things I had to smile about in October.

We had a great Halloween party

We went to many doctors appointments and got to see our Piglet growing along nicely. My parents came to visit, and we got a major project done on the house.

We had a great Thanksgiving with Match’s family and enjoyed telling everyone about Piglet. We announced our Rainbow pregnancy to the rest of the world, and reached the 12 week mark and the second pregnancy milestone.

We had our NT scan and found out we’re most likely having a boy!

I finally finished the nursery tree.

We experienced the magic of the Christmas season.

I reached 15 weeks, started my progesterone shots, and the Dr. confirmed that this Piglet is a boy.

We celebrated Christmas, both at home and with the inlaws.

 5 Goals/Hopes for 2013:

1. Deliver my healthy bouncing baby boy in late May or early June, FULL TERM hopefully, and be able to take this baby home.

2. Get back in pre-baby shape before the end of the year. I think 6 months isn’t too lofty of a goal. Even if I don’t get back into perfect shape, so long as I get back into an exercise routine I’ll be happy.

3. Keep up with blogging even with a newborn. I know this one won’t be easy, but I’m going to do my very best.

4. Do all of the fun things we’ve always hoped to do as a little family:  family photos, the pumpkin patch, Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas. I cannot wait to celebrate all of the holidays as a family. I think we may even attempt camping!

5. Enjoy all of the milestones of our new baby, and also maintain my strong relationship with my hubby. I know I’ll have moments, and I’m sure we’ll both be exhausted, but we’ve been through hell and back, and I know we’re going to greet those sleepless nights with gratitude. We’re a  great team, and I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for us.

We enjoyed fun weekends of swimming, hiking, potlucks, and time with friends. I started going to church again, and found some strength through renewing my spiritual side.

Match and I spent our fourth year in Carmel as a couple. It was a great trip and we always have such a great time there.

I wrote about our early miscarriage the month before, and what a setback that was for us emotionally.  My family came to visit me, an old friend moved to town, and Match and I went on some great hikes.

We fixed up our backyard and celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary.  I got through Roo’s due date, and we survived the camping trip from Hell.

I got my first tattoo, and I celebrated m y 29th birthday week

September ended on a wonderful note, when we found out we were pregnant again. I didn’t blog about it until a little while later of course. :-)September was the month that lots of joy came back into our household. Join us next week for the final recaps, October, November, December, as well as 5 goals/hopes you have for the new year.

We’re now reviewing the quarter of the year I dreaded looking back on: April, May and June. These were the hardest of my life. I still appreciate how so many of you helped to uplift me from afar with your words of comfort and love. I can’t thank you enough for being there for us.

I went to the ER, and things started getting really scary with my pregnancy with Roo. I found out that Sassy Girl was a terrible friend. Then on April 15th, we lost our sweet baby girl. I shared Roo’s story with you, and you were all so supportive.

Geeky and Couple Wife came to visit me and spend some much needed day out with the girls, and my beautiful, amazing bloggy friends sent me a star for Roo.

We headed to Oregon and spent time with all of our parents for some distraction and healing.

We barreled through the rest of the month, not doing too much. We attended a wedding, we worked on the house, and I worked on getting my body back in shape, and I painted a tribute to Roo in the nursery.

We went to a few summer parties, I had all kinds of tests on my uterus, and I tackled a bunch of  DIY projects.

I also got my MRI results, and Match and I made some decisions regarding ttc again. I know this review was less than uplifting, but in the mist of our grief, we had fun moments too, and were blown away with just how much support we have all around us.
Join us next week as we review months July, August, and September.

Locke: I heard you have lost your wedding ring.
Sun: Yes. I have been looking for it everywhere.
Locke: You know, I have once lost something valuable to me. Luckily, I found it later.
Sun: How?
Locke: By finding it the way everything gets found.
Sun: (Staring at Locke)
Locke: I stopped looking. -Lost

For a reminder of the rules and all of the fabulous prizes, go HERE. This week we are reviewing January, February and March.

I have to say, reviewing this year is very difficult for me, as I’m sure many of you know. But mixed in with the sorrow, there has been so much to be thankful for. It’s been a year of both ultimate sadness, and uplifting joy, and a roller coaster of emotions I didn’t think were possible to happen all within the span of one year.

January was full of home improvement projects to our new home. We updated the lighting and the master bathroom.

We also went on an amazing overnight trip to Tahoe’s Squaw Valley

and Geeky and I got lost in the woods on a hike.

We announced to you, my lovely readers, that we were expecting our first baby, Roo.

We shared the news of Roo with our friends.

I made a huge To Do List for 2012, and I’m happy to say I actually crossed quite a few items off of it! We celebrated Match’s 28th birthday and then he lost his wedding ring on Valentine’s Day. I participated in my first blog swap and scored big time with really cool gifties.

I celebrated my 12 week milestone, and we painted the nursery tree.
I also battled with spotting and pelvic rest.

We had a wonderful visit with my family in Ashland. It was the one time everyone got to see my bump with Roo, and I will always cherish those memories.

Match passed out and scared the bejeesus out of me. I made some progress on the to do list, including updating the downstairs half bath and painting the kitchen hinges.
I reached 16 weeks, and was dealing with a very overactive bladder.

Overall January-March were some of the happier times this year, and I will cherish those blissful moments of innocence, before our world fell out from under us. What happened to you in the first part of the year? Catch me up! And don’t forget to link up next week with April, May and June recaps.
