TTUT-BBQs are for the Boys

Samantha: [At a BBQ] Who wants a weiner?

  • Last week Couple Wife came to visit me and distract me from Roo’s birthday. It was a good day and we enjoyed lunch and then scouting spots for maternity photos for the 29th.
  • Last Wednesday Match had a few of his work buddies and their families over for a bbq. It’s not often that my reclusive hubby suggests we have friends over, so that made it even more special. It was fun watching all the boys play.

P1080101Shift Buddy wife just had a little boy (he’s just 7 weeks old) and Walking Buddy is 4 months pregnant with her 3rd boy. So this time next year we will have 6 boys between the 3 of us!!

I love how the little boys are playing in the gravel while they hang out with the big boys.

  • Saturday Miss PhD and I went to see The Host, FINALLY. I waited for her to get back from her NYC trip so we could watch it together. Piglet kicked up a storm during the movie. MissPhD spent half the movie with her hand on my belly, feeling all his crazy antics!
  • Sunday the sweet ladies of my church threw me a baby shower. It was so wonderful, and I was blown away by their kindness and generosity to our little boy. One of the ladies made me this adorable wreath:

  • Just look at all the stuff she included on it! The whole wreath was made out of diapers, but she added so many extras. It’s so cool! They also got me an incredible gift-my stroller!! A bunch of the congregation pitched in and went in on the gift for me. It is on order, so they wrapped a big empty box and stuck the picture on it. Here’s what the stroller looks like:

  • I feel so lucky and so blessed to be a part of such a sweet church family. There were also wonderful handmade blankets and sweet little clothes. I’m having trouble deciding what his take home outfit will be!
  • Yesterday I was a busy bee, putting away all of the gifts from the shower, washing baby clothing and bedding, and getting things organized for the nursery. I also went to my 34 week checkup and Piglet is doing great!
  • Next Monday Couple Wife is taking our maternity photos, and I promise as soon as she gives them to me I will post the nursery pictures. I’ve been bursting to do the nursery reveal!
  • Other than that, I’ve been going over my checklists and making sure I have things prepped and ready for Piglet’s arrival. I have my very last progesterone shot on Thursday, and then it’s just a matter of time before he makes his appearance. Hopefully full term and healthy, but otherwise I wouldn’t mind if he arrived in May! I’m so ready to meet him!

Merry Christmas!

Phoebe: And I heard him say, as he flew out of sight, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”
Joey: Wow, you really wrote that?
Phoebe: Uh-huh. -Friends

Well, almost. I feel like a little kid again, where these last few days before Christmas just seem to be dragging by. I’m really excited for Christmas eve morning, when Match and I will be having our own special Christmas. It’s going to be our last Christmas just the two of us. I have a couple surprises for Match that I think he’s going to love!

We’ve been getting a few gifties in the mail, and I love the excitement around Christmas of opening that mailbox and seeing a shipping label from a loved one. My favorite so far was from my grandparents: a home movie turned into a DVD of a year with me and my brother back from 1993-94. Match was absolutely giddy over it, and immediately popped some popcorn and started watching. He was cracking up and I couldn’t help but laugh along. I was so awkward at 9-10 years old! And hello unibrow! I can’t wait to dig through his old movies. I think for his birthday I might have to do a little payback!

I’ve also received quite a few Christmas cards from many of you, and I have them all on display in my dining room. It makes me smile to know that I’m on your Christmas card lists, and it makes me feel like family. We didn’t send cards this year, for the first time in years, but I promise we will next year!

Today the kids at church put on their Christmas pageant. They were so cute marching down the aisles in their costumes. P1070459

And if that wasn’t enough to really get me in the Christmas spirit, I came home to a box of chocolates and this ornament waiting for me on my doorstep, from Walking Buddy. She and her boys made this ornament for us. Match and my name are on one side, and Piglet and Roo on the other. When I saw Roo’s name I just started bawling. It was such a thoughtful gift and will be a cherished part of my ornament collection.

I probably won’t blog for the next few days, being busy with family and enjoying the holiday. So a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hannukah to all of you, and I can’t wait to hear all about your holiday!

Halloween 2012

Tracy: Oh check this out! My key to the city of Gary, Indiana” . Mmmm, look at this! My gold record from my novelty party song![“Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” Music video]Tracy[singing, dressed up as a Werewolf bar mitzvah, spooky scary. Boys becoming men, men becoming wolves. -30 Rock

Our Halloween party was a blast!! The day started out super scary, with my own personal Halloween nightmare. I overdid it on prepping the house for the party the night before, and I woke up to tons of bleeding and blood clots. I had an appointment with the midwife for bloodwork that day anyways, so they were able to give me an ultrasound. Little Peanut is just fine, nice strong heartbeat, and the midwife said I just need to be better about taking it easy.

Match and my friends were all so understanding and didn’t let me do any of the clean up. They are all so good to me and little Piglet! Prepare for a photo bomb as I take you through the night. Let’s start with the decorations. I love the way they turned out.

and let’s not forget the food

Match helped me make the rice crispy eyeballs and ghosts. They turned out so cute! Miss Ph.D is so afraid of spiders she couldn’t eat the spider deviled eggs. 😉

And now without further adieu, I give you our costumes:

The pictures started out innocently enough, but quickly went inappropriate. Match had way too much fun with this theme!

The guest arrived and everyone was dressed up so cute.

Miss PhD as a devil, Geeky as Hermoine, me as the sheep, Walking Buddy as Medusa, and Hippy Chick as Bubble Gum, with her baby as a kitty cat. Walking Buddy’s sis in law came along, but I don’t think she had a costume.

I can’t get over how cute Match looks in his overalls. Walking Hubby was a gladiator. I have no clue what Hippy Guy was supposed to be. Maybe a magician? And Geeky’s hubby went as Maverick from Top Gun.

I had way too much fun at the food table. I plopped myself down and practically ate all the food. Good thing my sheep costume was baggy!

I mustache you a question!

At the end of the night Hippy guy did a cool glow in the dark light show for us. It was pretty neat to watch.

I had such a great time with friends. It was so low key and mellow. It was exactly what we wanted. I can’t wait til next year. I plan to do more yard and outdoor decorations. And I can’t wait to have a family themed costume with Piglet!

[Dr. Wilson is examining Dr. House’s leg with the MRI]
Dr. Wilson: [gruff disguised voice] House, this is God.
Dr. House: [in MRI chamber] Look, I’m a little busy right now. Not supposed to talk during these things. Got time Thursday?
Dr. Wilson: Let me check. Oh! I got a plague. What about Friday?-House

with Impulsive Addict and Seriously Shawn.

Today I’m having an MRI. It’s the follow up test to my hysteroscopy, and should hopefully confirm what my OB found, my uterus septum. If the MRI comes back positive, then they’ll schedule my surgery. I’m hoping for sooner rather than later on this surgery business. I’m ready to move forward, and I’m hoping to be all healed up for our trip to Carmel in August.

My doctor gave me a dose of Ativan to take while they perform the MRI. I’m just a wee bit claustrophobic, and I have to be in there for 45 minutes! Eep! Still, I will take enclosed spaces to the pain of that hysteroscopy any day!! I hope the Ativan helps me sleep, and I’m not too bored. What the heck am I supposed to do during that 45 minutes besides lie still? They should give patients kobo ebooks to read while they’re stuck in the machine. Maybe I’ll get a cool tech who will entertain me while I wait.

Walking Buddy has graciously offered to give me a ride and bring me home since the ativan might make me loopy. Such a sweet girl. Wish me luck!

In other news, I’ve revamped my website a little bit, and I have a new button over on the right sidebar. Grab it and you’ll make my day! I definitely do not feel like a “Date Girl” these days, and definitely like an old Married Mrs. Match. 😉 So if you see comments from Mrs. Match, that’s still me! So what do you think of the new look?

Restaurant Hopping in Napa

Rory: Well, tonight I’m meeting him in Manhattan to celebrate.
Lorelai: Fancy restaurant?
Rory: Rutabaga farm, actually. –Gilmore Girls

I feel like I’ve been bouncing around like a yomega yoyo this month. It’s only halfway through the month but I feel like I’ve done more in the past 2 weeks than I did for the entire month of May.

Last weekend we went to Napa with Walking Couple. We had this idea to go restaurant hopping; where we’d eat appetizers at one place, dinner at another, and dessert at another. We ended up having to wait too long to eat, so we had appetizers and dinner at one place. We were able to eat outside, and the weather was lovely.

It was an off night for Walking Couple. They were both tired from spending all day at a theme park with their kiddos. I think we all got a little bummed out when we saw the prices at the restaurant too. Poor Match-his meal was ridiculously overpriced and all he got were 5 sad little raviolis.  It didn’t help that Walking Buddy said her and Walking Guy had been fighting all day. There was an undercurrent of tension between the two of them that normally isn’t there.

The highlight was that we both got dressed up and Match couldn’t stop cuddling me. Sometimes it pays to fix my hair and wear uncomfortably tight jeans. 😉

We did have fun at a sushi place we found after the restaurant, where we ate dessert and shared drinks in the lounge.

I think we’ll definitely try restaurant hopping again, but next time when Walking Couple is fully rested, and in a town with more reasonable prices. Napa is a bit bloated and full of itself!
