SPT- Bringing the Indoors Outdoors For Summer

Samantha: [At a BBQ] Who wants a weiner?
Transexual: Girl, I’m trying to get rid of one! –Sex and the City

Match and I have done a good job of this living vicariously through his parents. We’ve managed to have weekend meals up there almost every weekend these past few weeks, and we always sit outside. img_5022

(when I posted this pic on Facebook, Drama Chick pointed out that the weenies were very large, haha. I hadn’t even realized!)

Just wait till they get their new lounge chairs. They will have to pry me out and drag me to the car kicking and screaming. 😉 I can’t wait till we get our own house and we can start picking out our very own patio furniture. Till then, I’m happy to steal theirs.

SPT-Finding My Way Back to Family Time

Emily: Champagne, ladies?
Lorelai: Wow, that’s fancy.
Emily: Well, it’s not every day I have my girls over for dinner on a day that the banks are open.                                                                                       –Gilmore Girls

June’s SPT challenge is to find our way back.  We’re supposed to tackle one thing on our to do list each week that has been keeping us from blogging. I love this because I love crossing items off my to do list. So for this week,

tuesday, june 9 meal-planning/preparations or other organized family time

it couldn’t have been more perfect. Last weekend Match and I spent quality time with my family, including my mother, who I haven’t seen in almost a year. I enjoyed every minute of it, and it made me appreciate those sit down dinners we always had growing up. This is a picture of my grandma (Pomma in our family) making her yummy and oh so healthy ice cream punch. img_5389

As soon as Match and I got home, we did the same thing with his parents; sat down to dinner and regaled the funny stories of our trip up North. Match’s parents also got a hammock, to go with their incredibly relaxing pool and hot tub (as if it wasn’t relaxing enough!). So while Match helped his dad cook, I took the hammock for a test drive. img_5502

It was also a time for us finding our way back to each other, and realizing just how in love we are. Match couldn’t stop hugging me and telling me how happy he was to be a part of my family. Which explains why he jumped into the hammock and tangling his legs around me like a spider monkey! We’re just lucky the hammock didn’t tip over. 😉 img_5488

SPT-Something Blue

Robin: You stole a blue French horn for me.
Ted: I would’ve stolen you a whole orchestra.    -How I Met Your Mother

This past weekend our camping trip was canceled. But on a good note, we were able to enjoy a great weekend in the sun at home.

While lounging poolside with Match and his family I was able to find many things that are blue. During our “tour of the manor” as Match’s mom puts it, where we walk through the garden and look at how the flowers and vegetables are doing, Match decided to be a little boy and catch a lizard. Not just any lizard, a blue bellied lizard! He must have known I had an SPT to do eh? Isn’t it beautiful? img_51311

After our tour, we went back to sunbathing by the pool, which is a beautiful shade of light blue. It is also quite possibly my favorite place to hang out. Can’t wait to go back again next weekend!

SPT-Something New

Chief: (seeing Sean and Mike play Scrabble) Look at this: A meeting of the minds and the minds are a no-show.
Tommy: (looking at the Scrabble board) Hmm. “Tag.” “Arm.” “It.” “Go.” That’s great guys.
Laura: Why even bother keepin’ score?
Mike: (placing tiles on the board) F-E-L-L. Read it and weep.
Sean: Oh, shit. How many points? (Sean and Mike just stare at each other, Mike takes a little time to figure it out)
Mike: Eight.                                                                                                    –Rescue Me

This week’s something new came from my sweet Coast Sister, who is always so thoughtful. For no reason at all, she sent me this adorable pendant. It’s a Scrabble tile on one side, and a picture of me and Match on the other.  Do you love how I took these pictures while driving? Eep. img00079img00080

I know Coast Sister is in a lot of my SPTs but it’s because even though she’s far away, she’s a big part of my life. I think one of the reasons our friendship has survivedthe distance and time apart is because of all the little things she does for me. Be it a friendly text, or something bigger, like her thoughtful gifts. Thank you so much for being my sister girl, I love you!!

SPT-Something Old

I don’t believe in the Republican party or the Democratic party. I just believe in parties. -Samantha, Sex and the City

This month’s SPT challenge is really cute. It goes with the upcoming wedding season, and I’m sure you can guess the rest of this month’s challenges.

Now for my something old-I chose an old picture of my very shiny toenails and my pup Monkey at my Cinco De Mayo Party in 2006. He’s going to be 6 this summer, which means next year he’ll be a senior dog, and definitely no longer a puppy, sniff. He looks so much younger in this picture! Oh, yes I still wear that purple shirt. Maybe it’s time for new clothes for Date Girl? Also note the very very outdated linoleum. Talk about old!

I also thought this picture was fitting, because it reminds me of all the old wild parties we used to have during my college years. That party in particular was crazy-it included homemade pinatas filled with cigarettes and condoms  (not my idea!!), wild drunken people, and me about two jeans sizes smaller, sigh. n33200666_30161775_617

I know three years ago isn’t “old” but it feels like it was centuries ago, compared to how I am spending my Cinco this year: curled up on the couch with my laptop, Monkey asleep at my feet, and most of all, QUIET! I do miss the wild parties at times, but I don’t think I could stay awake for anything on a weeknight. Here it is not even 10 and I’m already falling asleep. Maybe I’m just getting “old”. 😉
