We all were a part of one another, one family, one community. Sometimes we forget this and so we meet here each year to give thanks to those who have helped us and to remember, even the greatest darkness is nothing, so long as we share the light. -Father, Beauty and the Beast
We have so much to be thankful for this year. It’s been a long hard year, but we’ve seen that rainbow at the end of the storm, and we couldn’t wait to share our news with the rest of the family. We even had Match’s sister there, who conspired with me that she was surprising her family for Thanksgiving. I kept urging my MIL to get ready a little bit early, much to her annoyance I’m sure. Then when there was a knock at the door, I said, why don’t you open it, and I’ll finish setting up? I grabbed the camera and captured her reaction as her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend walked through the door. It was so sweet!
I had to wear a jacket around all day, hiding my baby bump, waiting for everyone to arrive. When the last person showed up, my mother in law gathered everyone outside and said we had an announcement. I’m sure they guessed what it was, but they still did a great job of acting surprised. I just stood up and took my jacket off. I had planned on saying something, but in the moment with all eyes on me, I got a little nervous. But as soon as I turned to the side, the aunts started cheering, and everyone clapped. It was a great moment!
We settled into a relaxing afternoon of eating, drinking (I drink with my nose by smelling all the wine, lol) and enjoying visiting with family. I helped decorate the 24 inch round tables and everything looked so festive. We got to chatting about Christmas, and I asked the aunts where they were planning on having it this year. No one really wanted to host, so I offered our home. We’re a drive from everyone, but we have such an open floor plan, and our house is perfect for guests. Everyone was really excited, and it looks like I’ll be hosting my first big family Christmas!! They all made me promise not to do too much, and I won’t, but I cannot wait to get started on decorations. In fact, I think I’m going to go start today. 🙂
Saw Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 with Miss Ph.D. It was Ah-mazing! I am sad that the series is over, but boy did they end it with a bang. They really nailed it with the casting, and all of my favorite scenes were exactly as I pictured them. Loved it!
I can’t believe that Thursday is Thanksgiving! We are finally FINALLY telling the rest of Match’s family about the pregnancy, and then we get to go public on Facebook the next day. I can’t wait. Here is a sneak peak of the photos we’re using for our announcement to the Facebook world.
And last but not least, I have a winner for the $25 gift card to Poppy Seed Projects: the lovely Jillian at Jill’s World! Congrats Jill, and I hope you let us know what cool project you decide on from Poppy Seed!
This is a prescheduled post because my parents are in town! While I’m sitting on the couch directing them with my tiara on, while they do projects for me around the house, hehe, I thought I would share with you a fun little addition to Piglet’s room.
Recently the lovely Holly from: sent me this chalkboard vinyl. Originally I’d planned to use it as a menu for the kitchen. I didn’t realize how big it would be! Then Match came up with a great idea-why not use it for Piglet’s door? What kid doesn’t want to draw and decorate their bedroom door?
So here’s how it looked when we first put it on the door. It came with bubbles on the sides as well, but it didn’t fit on the door, so we trimmed it. I still think it looks cute with the scroll on the top and bottom.
I got some chalk and did a little decorating. I’m sure I will change it a million times between now and Piglet’s arrival. I’m thinking countdown to the due date, or updates on my pregnancy, and eventually, shh baby sleeping messages. There are so many possibilities!
Try to ignore the big line in the middle of the vinyl. Match got a little excited helping me peel it off and the back stuck together. But I don’t think it’s too noticeable.
Have you tried out chalkboard vinyl? If not, go check out Poppy Seed Projects. She has all kinds of adorable craft kits that will spark your creative side. And guess what? One of my lucky readers has a chance to win a $20 gift card to Poppy Seed Projects! Just enter below, and tell me what your favorite product on her site is. There are so many to choose from!
Phil: Lem, you can’t hurt a baby.
Lem: Well, you can hurt them. They’re not indestructible.
Phil: I meant it’s morally indefensible.
Lem: Well, what if the baby killed a man?
Phil: You and your moral puzzles. I just love ’em. -Better Off Ted
Our appointment with the specialist went so well this week. He was very pleased with Piglet’s progress, and said the heartbeat was very solid and strong. He also thinks that since my bleeding is triggered by bending and lifting, that it might be just my cervix bleeding, and nothing internal, which is very good. I’m still going to be monitored every 2 weeks, but he said everything looks great.
He also said I’m ok to start doing a little bit more activity, but if I start bleeding again, to back off. So I’ll start out slow, and we’ll see!
If you look closely you can see Piglet’s little legs. She/he was kicking and waving his/her little arms. In just 2 weeks we get the NT scan and we’ll get to see Piglet up close and moving around for at least 30 minutes. I can’t wait!
After our visit we had a little impromptu photo shoot in the backyard, next to the rose tree we received from my father in honor of Roo. It’s been in full bloom since we found out about Piglet, and I like to see that as a sign just from her.
Please forgive the pajama pants. If you knew how comfortable they were you wouldn’t judge me! How cute is the look Monkey is giving me? It’s like he’s asking what’s in my belly. I love that little dog, and I love this baby!
I’ve been anxious since Halloween. I went to the midwife checkup and I saw Piglet’s heartbeat, but I need confirmation from my Dr. that all is well.
The bleeding has stopped, and now I barely have spotting, which is a huge relief. Taking it very easy seems to be doing the trick.
This past Sunday I taught my second Sunday school class. I was exhausted by the end of the hour, but I had a great time. There was this adorable shy girl in the class, who barely spoke. By the end of class she’d warmed up to me, and sang along with the song I taught, and then surprised me with a huge hug when class was over. It was the sweetest thing!
Hope everyone voted today! Match and I are anxiously hoping a measure passes, as it could mean increased local police funds, and a chance to work closer to home. Fingers crossed!
My parents will be here on Saturday! I’m so excited for them to see our house for the first time.
It’s taking ALL of my willpower not to clean up in a frenzy. I know I’m not supposed to strain myself, and I’ve learned my lesson. But for my Virgoness, and because this is my MOTHER we’re talking about, it’s absolute torture. Hopefully I can bribe Match to take care of it. But let’s face it, his clean is not MY clean. If only I had it in the budget to hire a cleaning person for one day.
While they’re here, they’ve promised to help with a few projects around the house. I just need to relinquish control a little bit, which is so so hard for me. My mom promised to bring me a tiara and let me order them around from the couch, ha! 😉
