Halloween ’17

We had an epic Halloween this year. Piglet is at the perfect age for holidays. He was so into it!  Our family costume was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Wyatt was Michelangelo, I was April O’Neil (I couldn’t find the yellow pants, but I made due) and Match was an awesome Casey Jones. We watched the 90s TMNT movie to get in character. Piglet loved it, and it brought back so many memories of my childhood. In a word, it was radical.

We hosted a costume party a couple weekends before Halloween and invited a bunch of our close friends and their kiddos.

Piglet had the time of his life, and us parents had a great time too. We get along with all of the families, and it felt like we were having a group date while all the kids ran off and played.

On Halloween day, Piglet and I dressed up as ninja turtles together. He got such a kick out of us dressing up together. My work had trick or treating stations  set up, and Piglet was able to trick or treat in each office. I loved getting to show him off!

That night we had a blast taking him around our “hood”. We paired up with our neighbor friends, and we had so much fun watching them run up to doors and yell “trick or treat!” Piglet gave his shy friend confidence, and I was blown away at the difference between him from last year to this year. He’s so much more bold and far braver than I ever was. He even went to scary houses!

We spent the rest of the evening passing out candy to kids. We curled up on the front porch bench and read our bedtime stories outside so he wouldn’t miss anything. I love that kid, and I love that he’s as excited about holidays as I am. Until next Halloween, Cowabunga, dudes!

Halloween Decor-2016 Edition

I had so much fun decorating for Halloween this year. I finally have my built ins, and this being the first Halloween in the new house, I had to make it special.

I made a countdown for Piglet, with a little ghost that he could move every day.

I went with a Harry Potter theme this year, and I plan on doing it next year too. I had a potions display, and made some Harry Potter themed book covers. I even made us wands from sticks we found on a walk. He’s super into Harry Potter now, which is a dream come true for me. I’m hoping next year we can dress up as a family of witches and wizards!

We hung up the pirate ship, and had the bats dangling from the ceiling again. Piglet loved watching them. I loved all of his cute artwork from school this year.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween 2012

Tracy: Oh check this out! My key to the city of Gary, Indiana” . Mmmm, look at this! My gold record from my novelty party song![“Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” Music video]Tracy[singing, dressed up as a Werewolf bar mitzvah, spooky scary. Boys becoming men, men becoming wolves. -30 Rock

Our Halloween party was a blast!! The day started out super scary, with my own personal Halloween nightmare. I overdid it on prepping the house for the party the night before, and I woke up to tons of bleeding and blood clots. I had an appointment with the midwife for bloodwork that day anyways, so they were able to give me an ultrasound. Little Peanut is just fine, nice strong heartbeat, and the midwife said I just need to be better about taking it easy.

Match and my friends were all so understanding and didn’t let me do any of the clean up. They are all so good to me and little Piglet! Prepare for a photo bomb as I take you through the night. Let’s start with the decorations. I love the way they turned out.

and let’s not forget the food

Match helped me make the rice crispy eyeballs and ghosts. They turned out so cute! Miss Ph.D is so afraid of spiders she couldn’t eat the spider deviled eggs. 😉

And now without further adieu, I give you our costumes:

The pictures started out innocently enough, but quickly went inappropriate. Match had way too much fun with this theme!

The guest arrived and everyone was dressed up so cute.

Miss PhD as a devil, Geeky as Hermoine, me as the sheep, Walking Buddy as Medusa, and Hippy Chick as Bubble Gum, with her baby as a kitty cat. Walking Buddy’s sis in law came along, but I don’t think she had a costume.

I can’t get over how cute Match looks in his overalls. Walking Hubby was a gladiator. I have no clue what Hippy Guy was supposed to be. Maybe a magician? And Geeky’s hubby went as Maverick from Top Gun.

I had way too much fun at the food table. I plopped myself down and practically ate all the food. Good thing my sheep costume was baggy!

I mustache you a question!

At the end of the night Hippy guy did a cool glow in the dark light show for us. It was pretty neat to watch.

I had such a great time with friends. It was so low key and mellow. It was exactly what we wanted. I can’t wait til next year. I plan to do more yard and outdoor decorations. And I can’t wait to have a family themed costume with Piglet!

Starting My Halloween Projects

Tracy: Orange and black decorations? Is this Halloween, or Princeton Parents’ weekend? I don’t know whether to be scared or proud of my cousin…
Kenneth: It’s Halloween, sir.
Tracy: Proud it is. –30 Rock

I’ve been working on a few Halloween projects. This weekend Hippy Chick and Walking Buddy are coming over to have a craft night. I’m hoping to start silhouettes for the windows.

Here’s a really simple project that I did the other day. I had an old picture frame that I drew a simple Halloween scene on.

I’m hoping to add a new frame someday that will have baby’s first Halloween in it. Wouldn’t that look cute next to this one? I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.

Have you started your Halloween decorations?
