10 Things to Smile About-November ’14

1.  Taking family photos made me smile.

2. Hiking at Jack London Park with our old neighbors made me smile.

3. Visiting the Sacramento Train Museum with Good Family and watching our boys play was definitely smile worthy.

4. Deciding to move to Oregon made me scared, but also made me smile. I love that we are starting this new adventure!

5. Thanksgiving with Match’s family,  and seeing Match’s dad make such huge progress with his health. He was so much better than the last time we saw him, and it made us both feel so much better about moving away. We know he’s going to get past this, and we’re slowly getting him back. He was so good with Piglet, and it was so nice seeing them bond.

6. Celebrating this adorable boy’s half birthday. I can’t believe he’s a year and a half already!

7. Our trip to Oregon had me smiling from ear to ear. The last minute  lunch meet up with my parents was icing on the cake of our trip. Watching my parents with their youngest grandbaby made my heart happy.

8. Celebrating Thanksgiving with Match’s family where Piglet got to meet his cousin for the first time. It was cute watching them play together.

9. Watching MockingJay Part 1 with Geeky made me smile. I’m going to miss her so much. We promised to keep up the tradition of seeing the movies together, even if we have to fly to visit each other to do it!

10. Watching Piglet “help” pack. Anyone have any advice for moving with a toddler? Seriously, it’s a good thing he’s so cute. 🙂

Mom’s Night Out, Playdates, and a New Friend

Piglet and I have been so busy this past week! We’ve been little social butterflies, and it’s been so much fun. It all started on Monday when I was out walking Monkey and Piglet. We ran into a really friendly mom walking her daughter. We struck up a conversation and ended up walking together. Her little one is 11 months old, and they’re a military family that’s new to the neighborhood. I think I’ll refer to her as MilWife. She was super friendly and she ended up inviting me to a party at her house for the next night!

It turned out to be a Favorite Things Party. Have you heard of these? I looked it up on Pinterest and apparently they’re really popular. The idea is to learn about new products while also getting to know new people. The picture on the right is all the great loot I got to take home from the party. Such a fun idea!

favoritethingsI had a great time, and it was really nice getting out of the house by myself. I met some really sweet ladies, and we all swapped mommy stories. Can I tell you how good it felt to finally be able to participate in mommy talk? I feel like for the past two years I’ve been on the outside looking in, and now I’m finally part of the mommy club.

Wednesday MilWife and I met up and went for another stroller walk. She took me on my first geocaching hunt. It was fun! I’m excited to have such a fun and outgoing new friend. We have a lot in common, such as our love for holidays, hosting parties, and being active. It turns out she also does elimination communication with her baby too! It’s fun to meet a kindred spirit, and I’m looking forward to hanging out with her more.

Yesterday Piglet and I met up with Good Girl and her twins and took the boys to Fairytale Town. There is a whole lot of cuteness happening in these pics. P1090664

Piglet had a lot of fun watching the big boys. He kept bouncing in my arms and cooing. You can just tell he can’t wait to run around!

Today we made the drive to visit Geeky and Piglet got to hang out with his favorite Godfather. He always gets the smiles out of him!

Their Great Dane Horse is so good with Piglet too. Piglet got a kick out of cuddling with him.

wyattcoopGeeky, Piglet and I went for a walk in the park and had lunch. We met an overly friendly squirrel, got a lot of smiles from strangers over Piglet’s shades, and enjoyed a beautiful fall day in the park. It was great connecting with my sweet friend. She opened up about how she and FireGuy are trying for a baby, and I’m so excited for her. I hope hers is an easy journey to parenthood, and I’m so excited for what lies ahead of her.

After the park, Piglet and I stopped by to visit the inlaws for a bit. It was a long day and by the time we got home I was beat! We’ve had such a busy week, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow and doing absolutely nothing. Here’s hoping Piglet decides to sleep in for once!

TTUT-Piglet’s Baby Shower

Jerry: Explain to me how this baby shower thing works.
Elaine: What do you wanna know?
Jerry: Well, I mean, does it ever erupt into a drunken orgy of violence?
Elaine: Rarely. -Seinfeld

I can’t believe I only posted once last week. It’s been such a busy past few days, prepping the house and getting everything ready. It took me a full day to recoop from the baby shower. It was such an awesome day. I felt so loved and so blessed to have such amazing family and friends there to celebrate our little guy. Prepare for picture overload! Tahoe Girl brought her nice digital SLR and spent the day being my photographer. My hostess, Geeky, outdid herself with the decorations.

My beautiful hostess Geeky! She did such a great job. Everyone had fun with the games, and she kept things running smoothly. She’s a pro!

Tomboy showed up as a complete surprise. She’s currently in graduate school in Oregon, and she had just visited us the week before. I didn’t even know she was still in the state. It was such a great surprise!

Chandler’s Older Bro’s Wife and I, showcasing our baby bumps. I still can’t get over the fact that she’s due just 28 days after me, also with a boy! The next generation of The Group in the making!

I loved the onesie decorating station. If I hadn’t been so busy socializing, I would have made one myself. Hopefully I get a chance before Piglet arrives. My guests had great senses of humor while decorating these!

About to open gifts, after I stuff my face with this cupcake.

This was part of the crib bedding set. The bumper is actually going to line the window seat in the nursery, not the crib, since it’s not that safe. I can’t wait to put it all up. Stay tuned for a nursery reveal in a few weeks!

Me and my MIL. If you look closely, the onesie says “I Was Worth the Wait” and it made me bawl. As you all know, this little guy has been a long time coming. It was a very sweet gift. She also got us our digital monitor (score!) because she knows how nervous we’re going to be as new parents. But the best gift? That would have to be an audio book that she recorded, along with my FIL of them reading Good Night Moon to Piglet. There was not one dry eye in the room when I opened that one.

I know it’s a terrible picture of me, but it captured the moment. When I showed it to Match, he started crying too. Such an awesome gift. Now I need to see if my parents can send one too, so he can listen to both sets of grandparents reading to him!

I had to share this picture because I love the look on my face. I think Piglet kicked really hard when that picture was taken, and I thought I was going to pee myself!

Finally resting my poor swollen tootsies, and visiting with Mrs. Makeup. It was so sweet of her to make the drive! I love that we’ve been friends our entire lives pretty much. I’ve known her since kindergarten. Hard to believe we’re both mommies now!

Good Girl brought one of the twins, and he was having all kinds of fun.

Thanking Geeky for doing such a great job. It really was the best day!

Me at the end of the day. I was exhausted but so happy. What a perfect way to celebrate our rainbow baby. I felt so much love, and there were a few times throughout the day that I could feel Roo’s presence with me. I like to think that she was happy too.

TTUT-Getting My Motivation On

  • First off I can’t believe I didn’t post for a whole week. Holy crow that’s a long time for me. I was caught up with a busy whirlwind week and weekend.
  • I’ve started working out again and instead of spending my days inside, I’ve been lacing up my running shoes and hitting the pavement. I can’t tell you how DAMN GOOD it feels to exercise again. I’m starting to get my body back, and I feel more like myself than I have in months. This past week has been the first week I could jog without pain in my lower abdomen/uterus, and it felt so so good to get back out there.

My goal is to get in the best shape I possibly can before we start trying for our next baby. I want to have a strong, healthy core. The endorphin kick I get doesn’t hurt either.  I do not want to have to worry about having to get a tummy tuck to fix the stomach area

  • This past Friday Match and I went to watch his fellow SERT team members (Sheriff Emergency Response Team) compete in a competition against other SERT team members from different departments. Match was sad that he couldn’t compete, but because he’d missed so many practices because of bereavement, he couldn’t participate. I could tell it was killing him. Hopefully next year!
  •  It was really exciting to watch them compete, and I was blown away by the women on the teams. Here they were, doing the exact same events as the men, and some were outdoing them. These women are seriously hardcore. I’m totally inspired to kick up my workouts a notch. If they can scale 8 foot walls, run, lift super heavy steel pipes, and go through obstacle courses, then I can make it through my 10 min ab workout video. NO EXCUSES!
  • I don’t want to have to worry about looking at liposuction down the road. I know liposuction prices can vary, but I’d rather go without it if I can help it!
  • I really don’t want to be that girl who can only fit into plus size quinceanera dresses.

  • The weekend went by way too fast. Match only really had one day off, since he was busy helping out with the SERT team all Friday. Saturday was spent snuggling on the couch and relaxing.
  • Sunday I had a down day. One where I woke up so sad and missing Roo so much it made my chest ache. My solution for days like this is to head to yard work. You’d be amazed at how therapeutic pulling on stubborn weeds can be. I also mowed the lawn. I’ve never operated a lawn mower. I may have missed a few spots, but I was pretty proud of myself.
  • Yesterday I got to spend the day with Good Wife and her 15 week old twin boys. I went with them to check out a home they’re hoping to rent in their hometown, about an hour and a half from us. They are so much cuteness, but so much work! I  don’t know how she does it every day. When one stopped crying, the other would start! I had fun being mommy’s helper. It was so nice holding sweet snuggly babies all day.
  • When we got back, Match was awake and helped out with a feeding. Now isn’t this just a precious sight? He’s a total natural.

So what’s new with you? Are you taking advantage of that beautiful sunshine and getting out of the house too?

A Wonderfully Full and Warm House

Pete: (To Berg) We’re having a surprise housewarming party for Johnny and Sharon.
Germ: I don’t have the address.
Pete: Well, meet me at the party and I’ll give it to you there. –Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place

The first Saturday of this month, Match and I hosted an open housewarming party. Our house was meant to be filled with people. It felt so warm and cozy, surrounded by our loved ones. The house was full of laughter, little ones running around playing, and most of all, love.

I had so much fun making some of the Christmas decorations for the party. Instead of wine charms I went to the dollar store and got a bunch of wine glasses and painted them with Christmas themes. I decided to keep them for next year, because you know I will be having another Christmas party!

Then I got the idea to paint one of my favorite quotes from the movie Elf. It turned out crooked but I figure that just adds to the charm right? 😉

I also got some inspiration from pinterest, which actually came from this blog. I spray painted old wine bottles, added sticks I found in the driveway, and voila. This little centerpiece was completely free!

You can’t quite tell from the picture but there is glitter on the bottles and they sparkle slightly.

Match’s mom brought us the essential entryway adornment.

Here’s the table with all the goodies.

It cracks me up that no matter the size, everyone always ends up in the kitchen.

Good Couple came and Good Wife showed off her baby bump. Did I mention she’s pregnant with TWINS? First time mama…she is going to be a busy bee!

Monkey says…please someone just throw the ball!

Monkey made us proud by being VERY patient with the boys. I was nervous because he’s not around kids that often but he was so good. Look at him with Moose’s girlfriend’s son. He was loving all the food he dropped. Look at the grin on his face in this picture. Doesn’t he need a little boy best friend? I think so.

Here’s Couple Toddler giving him loves.

Neighbor Couple were also there but I didn’t manage to snap their picture.

At the end of the night, it was just Couple Family (minus Couple baby who stayed home) and us. We curled up on our comfy furniture and visited. Match and Couple toddler had a blast goofing off. Look at the way Match lights up around kids. Is that not the cutest thing?

Watch out, Uncle Match loves to eat baby toes!!

We also had our first family photo in the new house.

It was an awesome house warming and hopefully just the first of many more parties to come.
