Friday Daydreamin’-Oregon in the Spring

[narrating the play, with Rose acting out Henny Penny’s actions] Once upon a time, on a beautiful spring day, Henny Penny was waking up from a nap under an oak tree, when an acorn fell from the tree and hit her on the head. [fake paper acorn hits Rose on the head] Funny, when I was a little girl in Sicily and they told this story, it was a safe that fell on her head. –The Golden Girls

This week Becca asked us what spring means and our vacation plans. I’m still stunned that it’s already March. I’m daydreaming of our spring trip we’re taking later this month up to Oregon. We originally planned the trip just to see my cousin’s concert at SOU. He’s a music major and incredibly talented. Roo is going to hear his/her first classical music live!

Now unexpectedly it looks like my parents might be getting time off work to join us. We haven’t seen them in 4 months and I’m so excited. I didn’t think we’d be able to see them at all during my pregnancy. We’re hoping to rent out a vacation home together for two nights. I can’t wait!

The last time we were up in that area was the summer before our wedding. It was such a blast! I know it won’t be as warm as in the summer, and there won’t be any fishing my chunky butt out of the pool with pool nets but I’m kind of relieved. I’m ready for spring but I’m not ready for the heat! I’m daydreaming of fresh crisp Oregon air, beautiful green parks and quality family time.

Friday Daydreamin’-Curling Up Like Kittens

Booth: [baby cries] You hear that?
Brennan: Sounds like a cat…-Bones

This Friday Daydreamin’ we’re supposed to write about what we love. I love curling up like kittens with my hubby. Yesterday it was so nice out that we decided to nap on our deck.

We watched the clouds float by and talked about how we’re going to camp out in the backyard in the summer. Then Match pointed to the lawn and said, “Can’t you just picture Roo camped out here in a tent?” I can’t wait for family “camping” trips to the backyard. Roasting smores around our firepit. I love daydreaming and curling up with my hubby like kittens.

Friday Daydreamin’-Squaw Valley

[Hyde, Eric, and Kelso are jealous of Bob dating Pam]
Hyde: I never thought I’d say this, but I wish I was Bob.
Eric: I wonder if she’d like to watch The Graduate with me sometime?
Kelso: One time, back when I was dating Jackie, I saw Pam washing her car. She leaned over and squeezed out the sponge…that’s all I remember as I rode my bike straight into a tree. –That 70’s Show

Today I’m

because all I want to do is go back to Squaw Valley. We went for a quick overnight trip on Tuesday with Walking Couple. I need a new nickname for them. Any suggestions? I’m thinking they are soon to become our Travel Friends, or Double Date Couple. If anyone has a good suggestion I would love it. I’m drawing a blank when it comes to nicknames lately.

The drive up was pretty entertaining. Since we’re new friends, we had all kinds of things to talk about, and the 2 hour drive flew by. When we arrived at the hotel we couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. We booked our trip through Travel Zoo and were able to stay at a 4 star resort for half price! Get ready for picture overload guys. I took almost 2GB of pictures in two days!

yes, the hotel had its very own ice rink!

the lobby was amazing!

Match approved of the bed.

I was in awe of the view.

The hotel had so many different photo op spots.

The reservation also included a bottle of wine, a smores kit, and two vouchers for an activity. There wasn’t enough snow to snowshoes, so the hotel let us use our vouchers for bike rentals instead.

Walking Buddy looked like she was about to ride into a tree. She got the hang of it though!

We ended up riding our bikes for three hours. We stopped along the way and took some amazing pictures. I can’t wait to turn some of these into canvas prints.

Match had to take a really serious picture of course.

After the bike ride, we went to dinner in Incline Village. We timed it perfectly and caught the sunset over Lake Tahoe. It looked like a painting.

After dinner we went back to the hotel to roast smores around the firepit.

We met a few sweet teenage girls that were there along with their Australian dad. He was a riot. He made sure to tease Match endlessly about his hat.

The next day we finished the trip with a hike around Emerald Bay.

Match and I took this same picture in July of 2010 when the falls were splashing on us. I think I prefer the frozen look!

It was an incredible trip and we had so much fun. I can’t wait to travel with our friends again!

Friday Daydreamin’-Diamond Lake

Zack: Have I ever told you that you are the best headmaster in Bayside, no make that California?
Mr. Belding: Zack, I am not a matador, so take the bull outside!
Jessie: What the little brownnoser is trying to say is may we hold a carnival on school grounds to raise money for this ski trip. –Saved By The Bell

I’m totally in the Christmas spirit. My house is all decked out for Christmas and our housewarming party this Saturday (pics to come soon!). Our tree is decorated, and there are even paper snowflakes on the windows. It had me thinking of Diamond Lake, a place I’d visit with my family when I was little.

We’d stay in a cabin, go sledding, and huddle around the fireplace after a long day of playing in the snow. We would go up with other families, or with our extended family, and we had such a blast. I wish I had digital pictures of our time there, but they are all in my mom’s well organized photos shoebox so I’m spared that embarrassment.

The last time I was there I’m sad to say it was with my ex, Unemployed Guy. The place was beautiful but his craptasticness abrasivesness definitely ruined the trip for me. At least I got some great pictures of the lake and the trees. I need to go back with Match and make new memories. I’m daydreaming of visiting Diamond Lake with Match, our future kids, and our parents. Now that would be an amazing trip.

Friday Daydreamin’-Sweet Dreams

Phoebe: I’m not sure about buying a mattress from Janice’s ex-husband. It’s like cheating on Chandler.
Monica: Not at these prices! –Friends

When I was little, I used to daydream about what my house would look like. I’d dress up in my mother’s dresses and wear my mother’s ring and play house. I used to daydream about my bedroom especially. I always wanted a sleigh bed, ever since I saw the movie The Santa Claus. Remember that kickass bed Scott Calvin falls asleep on?

As I got older I figured one day I would get a sleigh bed, but I thought it would take years of saving up to afford it. Well as luck would have it, our new town is not only an amazing place to live, but apparently their prices are incredible too. We went mattress shopping today and walked out with brand new pillows and free same day delivery of a top of the line mattress…and SLEIGH BED all for the price of what one mattress would normally cost.

I can’t wait to curl up on this beautiful bed tonight.

Especially next to this guy. 🙂 (He’s going to be so mad I posted this but I don’t care, it’s adorable)
