Barney: Alright, fine, the stripper at Stewart’s Bachelor Party was a 15.Ted: [Appalled] She was 15?Barney: A 15. Like in blackjack.Ted: As in, not sure whether you’d hit it?Barney: Exactly!Ted: Nice. –How I Met Your Mother

I’m BAaaaack. I had such an amazing Wedding Week but I have to say it’s good to be back. I’ve missed you all and can’t wait to catch up on your blogs. I promise I will tell you all about the wedding and post so many pictures you’ll be sick of it soon. But there’s so much I haven’t told you about yet and because I’m OCD and a Virgo, we have to go in order m’kay? 🙂 Oh and I’m waiting on the professional pics before I post pictures of our faces, so still 2 more weeks for that. Like you’re all just on pins and needles right? 😉

Let’s start with the pre-parties leading up to the wedding. First and foremost, the bachelor/bachelorette, or Jack and Jill party. The theme of the party was “Black and White or Animal Print, Classy or Classless”. There was so much to work with in that theme.

I decided that Match and I would go Zebra print and tie in both the black and white as well as animal print themes. I designed a little Groom to Be button for him, complete with ball and chain. I got him an adorable zebra tie and found some ribbon to match for myself. I also found the most adorable dress ever at Kohls. I definitely plan on wearing it again.

So here’s our complete ensemble:

I’m proud of all my friends-everyone played along with the theme.

Baker Chic was the hostess and she did an amazing job. From the adorable Bride and Groom Shotglasses:

To an awesome version of the NewlyWed game that she had me and Match play. I loved how everyone got in on the game. Everyone crammed into the living room and howled with laughter as I had to describe the craziest place we’ve ever done it.

I loved that even though there were distinct different groups of our friends there, everyone got along great. It felt like one big group of old friends and everyone actively participated in all the games.

Monica bought me the coolest gift-it’s a garter belt with a flask built in. I’m thinking I need to wear this regularly.

Chandler was put in charge of hats for when we played Presidents and Assholes. He did a great job and there was  a Woody hat, a Cookie Monster Hat, a Ducky hat,  and the most fabulous and most used, a beer hat.

Even Baker’s dog got a chance to wear it. He looks like he’s really enjoying it doesn’t he?

Or and least I forget, there was the I enjoy hat…

It was such a fun night. I was incredibly hung over but it was worth it. I guess towards the end of the night I just took off upstairs and passed out on Baker’s parent’s memory foam mattress. I have a tendency to do that. I’ll be partying hard and then sleep just hits me and I wander off. It’s kind of funny because one minute I’m the life of the party and the next minute I’m curled up in a ball on the couch sound asleep. I’m lucky no one has ever tried to draw on me or anything!!

I can’t wait until Token Gay Guys (they showed up towards the end of the night as a huge surprise, they were headed home from a trip to Wyoming and drove all night to see us!!) and Monica and Chandler have their parties next year. We started a trend for co-ed parties. Everyone had a great time!

Couple Wife’s Birthday and Carb Overload

Kids!? No! Don’t have kids! The rule is no kids until you’re at least 45. Don’t you EVER read my blog? It’s gotten a lot better. -Barney, How I Met Your Mother

Last night Match and I had Couple Family (had to change it with baby #2 on the way!) over for a belated birthday dinner for Couple Wife. She just turned 25 on Sunday. It’s funny how often I forget that she’s younger than me. I think it’s because she’s already a mom and has baby #2 on the way, plus has a job she loves and they own a house. Sometimes it makes me feel like I’m still 18 by comparison!

I haven’t made dinner for guests in a long time so I decided to bust out the comfort food recipe. I made Spaghetti Pie which is chock full of carbs and fat but oh so tasty. While I was at work I also designed a fancy menu to make the dinner seem more elegant than it actually was. Here’s the menu, you’ve gotta click on it to actually read anything:

And here’s how it looked on the table. Note that I got to use our brand new appetizer platters from my bridal shower. Yay! PS that olive tapenade totally looks like poop but I swear it was delicious. 😉

After dinner I also got to use my new cupcake tree. Don’t cupcakes just look more delicious on a tree?

We ate ourselves into food comas but somehow managed to have the energy to visit. CW told us about their 5 year plan (I love that they have a 5 year plan!) and how they eventually want to move further north to a smaller town that’s more family friendly. I’m sad because I know when we move for Match’s academy we’ll be even further away from them. But Match’s and Couple Wife’s parents live in the same area, so we’ll still get to see each other.

It was so nice visiting with Couple Family and getting to see Couple Baby. He’s grown so much! I can’t believe he’s almost a year and a half already. I love watching Match play with him too, it melts my heart.

I’m so happy I married a man who doesn’t have this old fashioned idea of being a dad. He doesn’t picture himself passing out the arturo fuente cigars in the waiting room and then being handed a baby to show off. He is definitely a hand’s on guy who will be an amazing father. It’s nice having Couple Hubby around as a great example too. CH is awesome with Couple Baby. He’ll jump up and play with him when he gets fussy, or just because. You can really see the love he has for his son. It’s too precious.

Couple Wife is getting closer and closer to her due date. Did I mention she’s having a little girl to complete their family? I hope we follow in those footsteps. I want a boy first and a girl second, as long as we’re dreaming.

CW asked the question that has been asked of us ever since we got engagd, “So when are you two planning on having kids?” We both sort of laughed and just shrugged and said something vague about waiting for Match to have his career established. The goal is before 30, but we’re not in a huge rush. I want to enjoy some newlywed time with my future husband. As much as I adore Couple Baby, he wore us out during that brief 2 hour visit. I don’t think I’m ready for full time parenthood just yet. Towards the end of the night I picked him up and he started babbling, “mommy mommy mommy” because he calls all girls that.  Even though I’m not ready to be one, I can’t say it didn’t give me a warm little flutter in my tummy. 🙂

Date Night In and Girl Gab Sessions

Lauren: when you’ve disrespected someone so much, they arent going to be there for you.
Audrina: No, not at all.
Lauren: And at this point I have no intention of being there for her.
Audrina: Oh well, what can you do?
Lauren: All I know is thank you for getting out of my life because now I have a better roommate and a better apartment and I’m just in a better situation.
Audrina: Yea.
Lauren: Cheers, Frankie’s birthday.
Audrina: Let’s go have fun, who cares, it’s done and over with.
Lauren: It’s going to be a long night. –The Hills

Yesterday all day at work I was counting the hours until I could go home. I’d had a late night hanging out with Baker Chic the night before and I didn’t get much sleep (Match was all about the snuggles and I just couldn’t resist ok?). Match and I had originally planned on going out to eat for date night before he left for work, but as the day wore on I got more and more sleepy and sweatpants were calling my name. So we decided to do take out from our favorite Vietnamese place and have our date night in.

After dinner Geeky came over for a long overdue gab sess. I bought these scrumpious almond chocolate cookies from Trader Joe’s and we cracked open a bottle of Late Harvest Zin (courtesy of BT’s family). We hadn’t talked just the two of in what felt like forever, and we ended up staying up til 1 AM! The night before Baker Chic and I had watched He’s Just Not That Into You and had a gab sess as well. I love hanging out in big groups, but sometimes it’s really nice to have that one on one time with good friends.

When Geeky was over, she mentioned that she doesn’t like Drama Chick anymore. I high fived her because seriously I don’t get why people continue to hang out with that girl. She’s rude, bossy, and above all, she is completely disrespectful to our friend Couple Wife. Drama used to sleep with Couple Wife’s husband way back in the day, long before CW met him. While that’s awkward enough, Drama goes out of her way to MENTION it at every chance she gets, to Couple Wife! I just don’t understand how a woman can be so gross and disrespectful not only to herself but to her friend like that. What’s funny too is Geeky, Baker and I all agree that while CW is a total Alpha Female in some respects, she just can’t seem to tell Drama off and she continues to spend time with her. If it were me and an ex of Match’s were hanging out with me, constantly bringing up details of her past with my man, you can bet she’d be getting the business side of a knuckle sandwich and some choice words.

It was funny how the two gab sessions I had with Geeky and Baker were like convex mirrors. Both times we lamented on the dating game and how relieved that we’ve found good guys, and both times we also talked about how sometimes men can be so clueless. Geeky and I laughed about how both our men are so oblivious to the female attention they get all the time. They never seem to catch on that girls are hitting on them! 🙂 I love having girl nights like last night and Thursday. I’m going to have to get Baker Chic and Geeky over because I’m sure the three of us we’ll have lots to gab about.

When’s the last time you had a girl’s gab session with a close friend?

My Bridal Shower

Rory: If the house was burning down, what would you save first, the cake or me?
Lorelai: Not fair! The cake doesn’t have legs! –Gilmore Girls

My bridal shower was in absolutely amazing. I’m so so lucky to have such incredible friends and family. When I first walked in, I was blown away by the decorating job that Couple Wife had done. She really went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

The first thing I saw when I walked in was my beautiful Barbie cake. Isn’t she gorgeous?!

The wine glasses were hand painted by Couple Wife and she put everyone’s names on the bottom. It was a great way for all of the ladies to get to know each other. Much more creative than name tags! Plus the girls got to keep their glasses as a party favor.

Old Married Wife made the cupcakes. They were snickerdoodle flavored with a cream cheese frosting. They were so delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

My dress fit perfectly and it was a total hit. I felt like a princess. The sash the girls gave me was the perfect accessory.

Single Girl, Tahoe Girl, Monica, and Me. This is our Sex and the City photo shoot.

The first game we played was “Toilet Paper Bride”. We split up into teams and each group had a “bride” and the girls had to design a dress for her out of toilet paper. We got such great ab workouts from laughing so hard. I was the bride for my group (of course). Geeky, Brazil, and my Neighbor were on my team.

Apparently I’m a Kung Foo Bride. 🙂

Couple Wife made sure that FMIL got to be a bride too. Hehehe. She had SO much fun. The aunties were in charge of her get up.

Single Girl, Old Married Wife and Monica designed Tahoe Girl’s gown.

Me, FMIL, Mother in Law’s Cousin, and Tahoe Girl

FMIL’s dress won because it was the only dress that actually covered all her lady parts. Oh and it had sleeves-fabulous!

The second game was 20 questions. Couple Wife had asked Match 20 questions ahead of time, and then I had to guess how he answered each question. For every question I got right, I got to kiss his pin up photo.

PS how cute is pregnant Couple Wife?

I’m totally swooning over Match in this picture. He is such a hunk! 🙂 I ended up getting almost all of the questions right, and I even elaborated on them the same way that Match did. Everyone was laughing and awwing as Couple Wife said, “hmm maybe you spend too much time together!”

One of the questions: “What is DG’s favorite book?” His answer? “Twilight, DUH!” hehehe. There were also some embarrassing questions, such as “What does Match say is your favorite physical feature of his?” The answer? His butt! I was beet red because his mom was sitting right in front!!

We also played a panty game, and I’m still waiting for pictures from that. I think it deserves its own post because it’s hysterical. So after all the games, Match stopped by because the guys were going out for drinks, and Single Girl (whose nickname really needs to change) had left her boyfriend’s wallet in her car and he needed his id. So Match walks outside to be bombarded with whoops and hollers from all the slightly inebriated ladies. This was after the shirtless picture game so they were screaming at him to take off his shirt. He ran away the minute he could, but not before I stole a kiss.

The party was incredible, and FMIL was very well behaved. She was blown away by all of the decorations, and the effort that my friends put forth for me. I think CW definitely helped by giving her some extra attention. I couldn’t have asked for a better shower.

Have you ever been to a bridal shower? Have you played the Toilet Paper game?

Post It Note Thursday-Bridal Shower and Stealing My Thunder

[Monica opens the door to find Ross and Rachel kissing in the hallway.]
Monica: Oh, I’m sorry, I seem to have opened the door to the past!… I know what you’re trying to do! You’re trying to steal my thunder!
Rachel: Oh, no honey — we weren’t trying to steal your thunder, honest. No one was meant to see!
Monica: Right, now I get it. That’s why you two were kissing in the secret hallway where nobody ever goes! –Friends
