Last night turned out to be much better than I thought it would. We went over to Couple Friends and finally got to meet Couple Baby. Couple Wife’s friend that was visiting was really nice, and I felt comfortable around her instantly. Couple Baby was one of the cutest newborns I’ve ever seen. You know how most newborns are all red and wrinkly when they’re brand new? This baby was all smooth and adorable. I’m terrified of newborns because of how fragile they are, so when Couple Wife’s friend asked me to hold him, I was freaked out. Plus, the baby was 9 pounds, 9 ounces when he was born, and super long, huge for a newborn. I just couldn’t help thinking of that Friends episode Monica accidentally bumps her baby nephew’s head and he tattles on her, “Monica bang.” I just kept thinking, I’m going to break their baby, and then this newborn is going to tell on me. I like to think of myself as a generally happy, upbeat person. I even like to think that normally I don’t fall prey to the perils of PMS. Unfortunately for Match, yesterday I think I got a double dose of bitch. The bad mood started out with getting quasi flaked on by Couple Friends. Continue reading My Brat Attack→
Chandler: (To Rachel, sarcastically) Hey, have you had the baby yet? Rachel: Do you want me to come over there and sit on you, because I’ll do it?!  –Friends
Last night I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner, when I get a text from Couple Wife: “Feel like going out for chinese? Preggo woman needs egg rolls!” That’s right, the poor thing STILL hasn’t had her baby. She’s officially 10 days late, and uncomfortable as hell. So the four of us decided to go out for food, and try to make CW eat as much spicey mustard as she could stand. Continue reading The One Where Couple Wife is Late→
Carlene: Oh, Mary Jo. You are just the best girlfriend I’ve ever had! I mean it! If you were a man I’d marry you. I would!(pondering)Â But Julia, you know what . . . I would find you very attractive too. It would be a tough decision . . . Mary Jo or Julia. I can’t decide! Allison, what do you think?
Allison: I think you need a date” bad!!
Carlene: You think so?
Mary Jo: Oh, don’t pay any attention to her. She’s just mad because none of us want to marry her
These past few months I’ve been really missing having a good girlfriend to hang out with. Coast Sister is by far my best gal pal, but unfortunately she lives across the country (come on Coast Guard, make her hubby get stationed in CA!!). I was really missing having someone here to do things with, like go see chick flicks or just sit around and girl talk.
Saturday morning Couple Wife took me up on my suggestion to go for a walk in the park near our houses. We started by making a pit stop at Starbucks, which jump started the morning. I can’t remember the last time I’d gone for coffee with a friend, and it was so nice. Then we hiked all over the park, which was impressive given she’s 9 months pregnant. Part of the walk idea was to see if we could speed along the arrival of Couple Baby. He’s due this week, so we were hoping to jump start labor.
While we didn’t get her water to break, we did have a great time talking. We have always gotten together with Match and Couple Hubby in tow, so we didn’t get a chance to get to know one another. She’s a lot like me, and Coast Sister for that matter (if we got in a room together, I’m sure we’d sound like hens, the way we can talk, ha). We talked about everything, from how her relationship began with Couple Hubby, to going through loss with him when his mom died from asbestos poisoning. Couple Hubby also lost his dad soon after, isn’t that so sad? So as a couple they’ve been through so much together, and have had to grow up fast.
Couple Wife is a little bit younger than me, but she’s an old soul like I am, so we click. We ended up losing track of time and chatted for 3 hours! I really needed that girl time, because as much as I love Match, sometimes it’s good to talk to someone that knows what I’m feeling. Match knows and understands me better than anyone, but he’s still a man, so he doesn’t quite get everything, and honestly I don’t need him to. It’s good to have girlfriends that can be there, to vent to, to gush to and daydream about all the what ifs, and just to laugh with. I’m hoping that we get together more often, and hopefully grow closer as friends.
Ted: So Sandy, what do you do? Oh, wait, I know what you do. You’re the guy who reads the paper in the morning.
Sandy Rivers: You got me. What do you do, Ted?
Ted: Oh same thing as you. I read the paper every morning. But then after that, I finish my coffee and go to my real job as an architect, where I make an actual contribution to the world.(laughs) I’m just kidding. Love your show. You’re terrific.
Sandy Rivers: Thanks. I never tire of hearing that. –How I Met Your Mother
Match and I are moving out at the end of this month, and I’m getting so excited. This will be our first place-as in, a place we moved in together-not my place that Match moved into. While apartment hunting, I started of course daydreaming like I always do, dreaming about us buying a house instead of renting an apartment. Continue reading Architectural Ideas→
