This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get a couple Mama and son date days with my boy. We spent Sunday playing legos, then went to a paint your own pottery place to make Christmas gifts for the grandparents.
Monday I had the day off, so we spent it at the zoo, one of our favorite places to go. We had a really special moment where we settled down for snacks and “special drinks” (his hot cocoa, my latte) at the seal exhibit. The crowd cleared out, and for a little while, it was just me, Piglet and the seals. It was pretty magical.
It was a great end to the day, which started off a little rocky, with mama forgetting her license so we almost didn’t get in with just our member card (lucky for me the ticket taker was cool with a photo of my license I had in my email, whew!) and we almost couldn’t board the public transportation train because the ticket machine wouldn’t take my card, and then poor Piglet even spilled his hot cocoa seconds after getting it. The nice cashier let us have another one for free.
After the zoo, he somehow wasn’t tired, so we loaded up Loki and headed to the park. We have decided the only way to exercise this pup is by rollerblading with him. So mama got a big workout in too!
It was a great time with my sweet boy, and I need more weekends like that. Love him so, and I’m still so amazed at how fast he’s growing up. I will cherish these sweet moments with him. I hope he always wants to go on mama son date days.
