Christmas on the Coast

We spent this Christmas on the Oregon coast, and once again Match’s parents rented a house on the beach, so we were able to see both sets of families. I liked having the split between the two families-it gave Piglet and I a chance to get away when his baby cousin was napping, and it allowed us to break up the visiting between each family. I think this kept the trip relatively family drama free.

The beach house MIL rented was absolutely gorgeous. That view out the living room windows was something I daydream of waking up to every day. There was a King Tide on the coast, so the ocean was rough and wild, and the tide was really high. It meant we couldn’t really walk on the beach, but we had fun walking along the lookout.

Piglet had a blast hanging out with his older cousins at my parent’s house. We played twister and there was a point where a wrestling mania broke out. As usual, my parents cooked up a feast and there was food for days. I was so grateful that they were willing to host Match’s family for dinner as well.

Introducing our baby niece to my parent’s goats

Match and I had the chance to get out for a little date. We brought along the sister and brother in law, which was kind of a bummer. His sister wasn’t in the best mood because she was fighting a cold. But despite that, we had a lot of fun with my old friends from school. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I set up my first roommate in college with a good high school friend of mine. They ended up getting married, and moved back to my hometown, where they opened up their own cidery. They had us over and we got to do a cider tasting, play video games on his old school arcade, and reminisce with his dad about the good ol’ days.

Did I mention that Match and I decided to wear pajamas on our night out? We used to do that way back when we first started dating, and it was fun to be so silly again.

We came home on Christmas day, and had a mellow Christmas with just the three of us. Merry Christmas and I hope you all had a lovely holiday!
