Merry Christmas everyone! We just got home from a week long trip to the Oregon coast to visit my parents. This was our first time at my parents for Christmas since we got engaged, back in 2009. It was so nice to be home for the holidays again! My mom had the house decorated so beautifully. You all know what a sucker I am for decorations-see where I get it? I adore the mantel. I’m not sure if my mom can handle any more grand babies. We may have reached capacity!
Christmas Eve my mom took us to Shore Acres to see the Christmas lights. This is the place where Match proposed to me five years ago. Piglet loved seeing all of the pretty lights, and kept telling everyone we met, “Merry Chrispy!”
Christmas night, my mom gave us the best gift a grandmother can give. She offered to watch Piglet while we went out to a party with some of my high school classmates. She even offered to take the monitor so that we wouldn’t have to get up early in the morning with him. She also watched him the following night too, and during naps we were able to slip away for walks.
It was amazing!! I love how good she is at being grandma. I am so excited that we live just 4.5 hours away from her instead of 9! It was so nice to be able to get out and see my long time friends again. I love how whenever we get together, it feels like barely any time has passed. We talked about our upcoming 15 year reunion, and I can’t wait to get it planned. Yes, we all agreed we couldn’t wait another ten years to get together! I’m very happy to be living closer to these awesome ladies and gent again. Hoping we make sure to get together more often now that I live in the same state.
The rest of the time with my parents, we had fun playing on the farm.
On our way home, we spent one night with Match’s parents, who rented a vacation home further up the coast with Match’s sister and her husband. It was a nice visit, though not quite as relaxed as my parent’s house. I think it didn’t help that we were kind of burnt out from all the visiting. Still, it was a nice time and we loved walking along the coastline. Match’s dad is doing a lot better, though he still has rough days. It was nice seeing everyone, and we had a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!
