House Projects, Party Planning, and an Almost Walker

Ack, I feel like I haven’t been keeping up with posting at all lately. Things have been so busy around here! We are knee deep in house projects, using Piglet’s upcoming birthday as an excuse to cross many things off our to do list.

This past week we worked the backyard, planting our Japanese saplings, pulling endless weeds, and working on cleaning up and prepping the outside of the house. The next big item on the to do list is getting the exterior painted! I am beyond excited about this. I can’t wait to post the before and afters. I think I’ll keep the colors a secret for now. I’ll just say that the change is going to be drastic, and I can’t wait!

As for the party, invitations went out about a week and a half ago, and I’m starting to get RSVPs already.ย Here’s how the invitations turned out:

I love that people had to do a double take to see Piglet was riding shotgun in the truck!

I’ve been busy making decorations for the big day. I’m making a chalkboard poster, a welcome sign, and banners. I’m also working on photo flash cards as one of his gifts from us. I had way too much fun finding pictures to go with each letter.

Tomorrow my nephews and sister-in-law are coming over for a photo shoot. We’re hoping to capture some cute shots of the boys for Mother’s Day gifts for the grandmas. Then we have a double date with Milfamily to celebrate Match’s new job (he got his hire date, May 19th!!) and then Monica is coming over for lunch on Wednesday. It’s going to be a busy week!

I’m also hoping to find the time to try out some cupcake recipes for Piglet’s party. I’m looking for recipes that use less sugar but don’t compromise on taste.

I also have a running spring cleaning list that I’m slowly checking off. I want to get some of the big ticket items done before the big party. I feel like I’m constantly running around working on something. This is the first time in awhile that I’ve sat down to just breathe, and I figured I’d better blog while I had the time. I miss my blog friends. Tell me what’s new with you!

Your invite is super cute but I really love those flash cards! What a fantastic idea ๐Ÿ™‚ As for cupcake recipes, I’ve had good luck cutting the sugar in my favourite recipe by half and substituting apple sauce. Didn’t change the taste at all and didn’t make any difference to the cookie time or prep. Hope you that helps, or you find something that works for you ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Party planning!
