2013 To Do List: The Results Are In

I’m in the process of creating my to do list for 2014. Let’s take a look at last year’s list and see how much I was able to get done. Now that Piglet is here, I definitely don’t have the free time I once had. I do think I’m more diligent with my time now, maybe because it is limited to nap times. So here’s what I was able to accomplish this year. I’m amazed at how much I managed to get done. A lot of that is because Piglet is such a good baby, and is pretty good at self entertaining. The items in blue are the ones I completed, and the items in red are the ones we didn’t get done.

    • Decide on a name for PigletWe are so happy with his name. Everyone that meets him says, yup, he looks like a Wyatt!
    • Pay off new upstairs windows-I did put a big dent in paying them off, but I still have a ways to go. They will be paid off before the 0% financing runs out!
    • Finance new downstairs windowsthank you 0% financing offers!
    • Pay off at least one of our student loans, pay down Jeep -I knew this was a lofty goal, but again, we’re making progress.
    • Start savings fund for Piglet  –We’ve met with a financial planner, and Piglet’s college fund is currently in the form of an IRA. Very glad we’ve started this for his future!
    • Roll over old 401K to IRA-been meaning to do this for years now Ack, why didn’t I do this years ago?! My money was just sitting there not gaining any interest. We transferred it over to an IRA and let our planners do the work, and it’s growing rapidly. Woot woot!
    • Write our wills -epic fail. Need to do this like yesterday…hopefully before the month is over!
    • Take infant CPR class ughhh, I epic failed at this one too. Match is a registered EMT so he gave me some basics, but I really do need to take a class
    • Take prenatal classes, including birth and nursing classes at Kaiser -this was emotional for me, but we got through it. I didn’t learn much, except for how to swaddle, and even then, not that well! Practice has just made perfect when it comes to how to care for a little one!
    • Organize garage-install pegboard and built in shelving storage  It’s actually managed to stay organized too! P1080808
    • Replace kitchen lighting with recessed lightingHa I wish!! I got a price quote, and I’m going to get another. Hopefully this year!
    • Buy hallway light fixture. Nope, maybe in a couple more years, after everything gets paid off.
    • Buy ceiling fan in the master bedroom. Got a quote, ouch. Definitely going to have to shelve this project as well. Sad panda!
    • Buy new dining room and front entry light fixtures-all shelved for now. I think after the necessities are done, we can revisit these lighting projects.
    • Save up for an electrician to come install all of these fancy light fixtures
    • Install a custom closet organizer-this one I’m going to try to make happen this year. I think I can order those wire organizers, instead of going with the fancy wooden ones I wanted. Anything is better than what’s in there now.
    • Buy sideboard for dining room using Amazon couponsSuch a great improvement. I love that it’s my entertainment ware station, and that it freed up so much space in my kitchen. Plus, it’s so pretty!
    • Take Maternity Photos with MatchI’m still so happy with how they turned out. Love love love them!

    • Make DIY invitations for Piglet’s baby shower
    • Finish nursery decor by no later than AprilFinished with time to spare, even though Piglet showed up 3 weeks early!
    • Take family photos when Piglet arrivesDSC_7833bwedit
    • Send out Piglet’s birth announcements wyattannouncement
    • Take Piglet Camping-maybe next year. By the time I felt confident taking him, it was too cold out.
    • Do something fun for our 3rd wedding anniversary-went out to the steakhouse, and then went out on our first date night without Piglet
    • Do something special for my 30th birthdaywent to the zoo, and went out for drinks with Geeky!
    • Come up with family Halloween costumes, hopefully DIY-well, I just went with the hand me down costume, but it worked. Next year we’ll do something more creative.
    • Take Piglet to the pumpkin patch-that was such a fun day!
    • Send out our first family Christmas cards
    • Make Piglet a baby book and keep track of milestones-in progress. I’ve been trying to keep track of milestones on my Ipad, and then transferring them to his baby book when I can.
    • Take Piglet to the Christmas tree farm
    • Take our first trip to Oregon as a family of 3Best trip we’ve had up there. Can’t wait to go back!
    • Have a date night at least once a month with Match, hopefully more frequentlyWell, we don’t quite get out that much, but we do set aside time each evening that is just for us. We’ve been trying to turn off the tv more, eating dinners together after Piglet goes to sleep, and playing games together, or just snuggling on the couch. I think that beats going out to dinner any day.
    • Lose baby weight and get in pre-baby shape by the end of the year. YIPPEE!!
    • Go back to the gym-should help with above goal-It has! I’ve lost all the baby weight, and now I’m hoping to lose 5 more pounds, and tone up.
    • Take Piglet to at least one Mommy & me classI take him almost every Friday to storytime at the library. It’s a great time for me to socialize, and he seems to enjoy it a lot.
    • Keep up with blogging even after Piglet gets here-I’ve sort of been doing this. I feel like I’ve kept up on the blog, but I’ve really slacked with keeping up with all of you. I hope to do a better job of that this year.
    • Meet a blog friend in real life-aw, I was really hoping to do this. Maybe this year!
    • Plant a garden- (redid the backyard instead!)
    • Have outside of house painted-Didn’t happen this year, but it’s a must for next year, or else we may have dry rot issues, eek.
    • Re-stain deck-HA! Nope. 🙁 Maybe when we get the house painted.
    • Buy the rest of our patio furniture with Amazon coupons-I bought 2 more chairs, but I’d still like to get the matching bench seat. I’m happy with the set for now though.
    • Buy a digital SLR to capture all of Piglet’s antics-Best purchase we ever made. Now I just need to learn to take better photos!
    • Start writing a book-not even a sentence. Sad!
    • Make mirror frame for Master Bathroom-love how it turned out
    • Help Match learn conversational Spanish for work-yeah…we definitely need to work on this one. I know a couple phrases, but that’s it.
    • Build window seat in the downstairs great room-hoping to do this by year end.
    • Order new window seat cushion for nursery –made one instead!
    • Read at least 50 Books this yearread 53 this past year!

Hey, that’s pretty good! You had one heck of a long list! I’d have been stressed to the max trying to complete all of this! Good job, you!

One thing though – do you really need a quote for a ceiling fan? We just went to Lowe’s and bought one and Cory hooked it up. And if Cory can do it, I KNOW Match can, too!
