Happy New Year’s everyone! This year, Match and I decided to host a family friendly New Year’s Eve Party at our home. We wanted to celebrate, but there was no way we would be staying up until midnight. So we invited a couple of our new friends who live in the neighborhood over for a family version of the holiday. We started our night at 4pm, and everyone brought their littles. We had finger foods, drinks, and watched the babies play on the floor. MilFamily came, and our new friends, a family that lives just a few houses down, who just had a little boy 4 months after us. The dad is actually a K-9 officer for a nearby town, so I’ll refer to them as K9Fam. It was great getting to know the families better, and I love that we all live within walking distance of each other, and that we’re all new parents.
How great is Piglet’s shirt and expression? Doesn’t he look like a haggard businessman after a long day at the office? “You would not BELIEVE the day I had. Now where’s my bottle?” 😉
We had a great time hanging out, watching the babies, and getting to know each other.
Towards the end of the night, Piglet went down for the night, so this was our version of a family picture. Match, me, and Piglet on the video monitor. 🙂
Turns out K9Dad is a photographer on the side and took some absolutely gorgeous pictures. He definitely put mine to shame! I need to take a class and learn how to use my new camera. Maybe I can learn a few tips and tricks from him. Some of these pictures he took brought tears to my eyes, especially the ones of me tickling Piglet.
We ate too much food, drank a little bit, and had a great time. I’m hoping we can have these couples over more and do more block parties. I’m so excited to watch our kids grow up and play together! I think my favorite part of the night is that I was in my comfy pjs, snuggled up with Match by 9pm, with Piglet fast asleep in his room.
Happy 2014 everyone! I am so excited to see what the New Year will bring!
