Marge: Please, Bart, no more pranks. It would mean so much to me if we could have just one nice family photo. (Shows Bart three of their last Christmas photos: one with Bart making a cross-eyed funny face, another with Bart using a comb to simulate a Hitler mustache, and a third with Bart holding a cardboard speech bubble that reads, “I stink!” next to Homer)
Homer: Hey, I don’t remember saying that! -The Simpsons
What is it about December that equals nonstop busy? I love this season, but I feel like the month is just flying by. I haven’t had much time to sit and write. I’ve been go go go! On Tuesday, we were able to get some time to go Christmas tree shopping.
We were so excited to bring Piglet to pick out his first Christmas tree. It was really cold out, and I think poor Piglet was a little chilly. We also woke him up from his nap early, so he was pretty sleepy. He was a real trooper, but not quite as smiley as normal.
I put the lights up, and showed Piglet the tree for the first time. He was mesmerized!
Thursday we decorated the tree, and decided to take our Christmas photos. Piglet had just woken up from his afternoon nap, and couldn’t figure out why Mommy put him in such a humiliating outfit. Match kept apologizing to him, but I mean, can you blame me? Look at how cute!!
Isn’t the look on his face priceless? He’s got the sullen teenager expression down!
We had some great shots that I totally ruined with my awkward posing. What am I doing? I was hurrying to get in the picture after the timer went off, and I forgot how to be normal.
We finally managed to get a good picture. It’s not easy when using the timer on the camera. How does one get a baby’s attention when there’s no one behind the camera to make silly faces?
I love the way our house looks during Christmas. It’s all the more special now that Piglet is finally here with us. He’s very interested in the snowflakes, and watches them dance, just like he did with the leaves.
I got a little choked up while decorating our tree this year. There are many special ornaments for Roo. There’s her angel, and then the thumbprint ornament Walking Buddy made with our names, and included both Roo and Piglet, and then there is my favorite: Kanga with Roo and Piglet on her lap.
I couldn’t help but picture little Roo, who would have been just over a year old, toddling around and getting into mischief while I tried to decorate. Then I looked at my sweet Piglet, and shook off my sadness and remembered to be grateful for this amazing baby we have. A baby who put up with an itchy Santa suit for family photos!
