So Much to Be Thankful For

This year, Match and I hosted Thanksgiving at our home. We actually celebrated Wednesday, since Match had to be up early on Friday for work. It was a small crowd, but just the right amount of people that we were able to have a sit down dinner, rather than a buffet. Our group consisted of Match’s parents, two of his aunts, an uncle, two adult cousins, and one of the cousin’s two children.

Piglet was on the tail end of a growth spurt, and spent much of the day sleeping. This was actually a blessing for me, because I was able to get so much done. Still, we missed our little man, and even though he was in good spirits, he wasn’t as alert and active as he normally is. I did manage to capture some great shots when he first woke up.

We had a wonderful day with Match’s family. I had a great time hosting, and I hope that we’re able to host again in the future. My MIL complimented me on my decorations, and for once didn’t have anything to critique or correct. I think she’s finally realizing that I’m capable of hosting events, and that she shouldn’t keep me from doing so (unlike last year’s Christmas fiasco!).

All day, we kept getting sweet reminders of Roo. I always think of her when I see ladybugs, and all day they kept landing on Match when he was outside. I think it was her way of saying hello. Her rose tree was in bloom and looking beautiful as well. I’m thankful for my little angel girl.

We enjoyed a great meal, where Piglet was happy to play quietly in his high chair while we ate (thanks kiddo!) and after dinner, the kids entertained us by twirling. How cute are they?

I have so much more to be thankful for this year. We recently found out that one of Match’s aunts is cancer free, after a tough battle with lymphoma. We have our friends, our family,  our lovely home, and we have the light of our lives, our sweet Piglet. I’m thankful every day that I get to be his mommy!

It’s so great to be back in your space again. I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed you.

I love everything about this post. Whenever I stop by here, I can tell that you are someone who knows how to stop and smell roses and appreciate and give THANKS whenever possible. It’s a beautiful, infectious quality you have and I’m so grateful that I get to read about your journey in life and through some hardships. You take a bad experience and turn it into a learning lesson and, well, frankly, it’s quite inspiring 🙂

I’m so glad to hear about Match’s aunt and that you were able to host a successful Thanksgiving dinner. Not that I had any doubts 🙂 Decorations look great! And look at how big sweet little piglet is getting! SO ADORABLE!!!

I’m so glad you had a great Thanksgiving. I think those we loved and lost always send those little reminders that they are here with us, don’t you? They make me sad and smile at the same time.
Piglet? LOVE HIS HAIR! It reminds me of our youngest son’s hair when he was that age! All soft and fuzzy 🙂
