Talk to Us Tuesday-Of Mice and a Potluck

Jay: What does that look like to you?
Michael: I’ll say it’s chocolate-covered raisins.
Jay: No, it looks like mouse droppings.
Michael: There’s only one way to find out. Junior, come taste one of these. –My Wife and Kids

  • We had a great time at our potluck on Sunday. In the middle of my cleaning frenzy on Saturday, I noticed to my horror that there were mice droppings under our kitchen sink. So we ran to the store and got a couple of no kill traps.
  • Sunday morning, we checked the traps first thing. And we caught the little bugger!

  • Match was thrilled at his trapping skills. You would think he put on his Suplay wrestling shoes and wrestled a bear, the way he was bragging. 😉 I was just excited to get the little guy out of our house.
  • We walked across to the park to let him go in the grass. I got the bright idea to film it, so we could see what kind of mouse it was. I thought I could handle it. Turns out I’m quite the chicken. Here’s my awesome footage.
  • The potluck was a success! Match helped me out in the kitchen by making this watermelon pig. Isn’t it adorable?

  • Monkey dressed up for the occasion

  • The kids had fun running around the house. Mrs. Makeup’s daughter got a kick out of the stairs.

  • She’s the first little one to ever hang out in the nursery. It made my heart happy to see her on the window seat. Someday our little one will sit there.

  • Even though it was hot outside, most of our guests preferred to hang out on the patio and the washers game was a huge hit!

  • We had a great time, and we were left with a lot of yummy leftovers. I can’t wait to host another backyard party. Hopefully we’ll have more projects done around the house by then.

ok, my curiosity is peeked, what the heck is the washers game….I want to play….

So glad you guys had a great time at your potluck! We play a washers game here (not sure if I’ve told you about it before?) – we call it Texas Horseshoes – and it’s a big favourite at parties! Everyone loves it! There are enough people now in town who have sets that you could end up with five or six games going at once at some parties.

Your watermelon pig is SO cool! Love it! 🙂

Wish I could have been there to play and enjoy! Oscar looks fab and ick about the mouse– I’m blocked from the video but can relate that I would have been chicken too– as a matter of fact, I found some terds in our garage and sent Erik out for rat killer stuff- we’re mean here.. no kill traps are a much nicer way to go. I have no idea if ours are still around or not.
Glad your party was a hit! I know you worked very hard on it! Hugs toots!

Yes what is the washer game?? Curious too. Looks like such a fun time. And glad you caught that mouse so quickly- I do not like mice eek!

Love the pig melon!! and Monkey all dressed up… very dauper!

    Seriously Shawn

That video is hysterical…I would have done the exact same thing!

That pig…too freaking cute! I’ve always wanted to try making some shape with a melon but am fearful of total failure.

Thanks for linking up with us.

    Your watermelon pig is adorable!!!

Oh goodness. Don’t get me started on mice. We use the no-kill traps, too. It grosses me out. Whenever you let them free they are always all sweaty! Yuck! You did make sure to let him go far from your house, right? Like all the way down the street? If he’s any closer, he’ll be back!

I can’t bring up the video! I wanna watch it!! I re-loaded the page but all I see is a white space. Stupid computer.

I totally stalked these pics on facebook. I’m a lurker. But I think I “liked” a couple. That watermelon is all kinds of awesome!

I’m sorry I’m just now commenting. July hasn’t been nice. =( Next week, you guys should link up your new blog too!
