Ted: Gee, is that ice cream cone big enough?
Robin: Uhhh, it’s delicious enough. –How I Met Your Mother
Holy wow how did we get into the 10th week of the year already? I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. I sound like such an old lady when I say that but it is true! Here’s an update on where I stand with my Project 52. Last weekend I broke out our new Cuisinart Ice Cream maker and crossed off #45.
#45. Make Homemade Ice Cream
I went with homemade frozen yogurt because it’s a little bit healthier. Of course then we covered it with girl scout cookies so the health factor went out the window.
My advice would be to make sure you like the flavor of the yogurt before you make it. It was great, but I could definitely taste the artificial sweetener (the cookies more than made up for that). I can’t wait to try different flavors and I may even make real ice cream. I just wish everything else on my list were this good!
1 2/3 cups milk
3.4 cup granulated sugar
4 cups fat free vanilla yogurt (I will use plain next time I think)
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
Use a mixer on low speed to combine the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the yogurt, heavy cream, and vanilla. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20-25 minutes. The frozen yogurt will have a soft, cream texture. -Cuisinart Recipe Book
