With the way our society is going towards social media, it’s no surprise that more people are looking online for love. People are searching through Consumer Rankings for the best dating sites and hoping just one will lead them towards love.
Now it’s no secret that I met Match online. I hadn’t really paid much attention to the match.com reviews. I wasn’t expecting love, I just thought, why not put myself out there for the universe? That’s the thing about love. You aren’t going to find it if you don’t put yourself out there.
At the same time, you can’t hide behind online dating and chatting. You have to still meet the person and take that second step. I think it would have been so easy for Match and me to just keep chatting and stay in our comfort bubbles but we didn’t. We took that chance and met right away. I think with online dating you have to make sure you don’t develop a relationship only online because that’s not real. Just how people can get overly attached to Facebook and develop friends solely online. It becomes unhealthy. There has to be a balance between social media and the online world and reality. I love that we have the means to meet people we might have never met otherwise. But we still have to go out and actually date them and take that dreaded (which can turn out to be wonderful) first date. You never know what can happen!
