Frank: I told my wife I wouldn’t drink tonight. Besides, I got a big day tomorrow. You guys have a great time.
College Student: A big day? Doing what?
Frank: Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we’re going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don’t know, I don’t know if we’ll have enough time. –Old School
The weekend is almost here, hurray! Tonight I’m working out with Geeky and then we’re going bowling with some of the girls. I’m hoping my Saturday is a lot better than last week’s torture!Â
I mentioned that I spent last Saturday ordering invitations with the Future MIL. I didn’t mention how insanely boring it was going over every minute detail of the wedding invitations. The first time we picked out wedding invites I thought that the THREE hours of combing through books and writing down every little thing would be enough. I was wrong. Apparently the form was too complicated for my MIL and we had to make the hour drive again and go over everything in person. I was with her from 9-5. Not my idea of a very fun Saturday! My biggest piece of advice for all you brides to be? Don’t listen to your MIL and buy the fancy invitations. Do it the smart and cheap way and just buy wedding invitations online like I wanted to originally.
Match felt so bad for me having wasted my whole Saturday, so Sunday he spent the day with me doing the things I had wanted to cross off my list Saturday. It’s funny but Match makes the most mundane tasks more fun. We started the day off by going on a jog, then washed our cars (and the dog!), went to home depot and bought a Japanese maple (I’ve been wanting one forever!) and we looked at couches at a furniture store down the street.
Our new tree! Isn’t it pretty? I’m planning on keeping it in the pot until we move to a more permanent home.
I’m dying to get us new couches before my family is here for the wedding. Ours are hideous with no support and have these slip covers that are constantly getting wrinkled and messed up.
After dragging him all over town for errands, we decided to treat ourselves to a beer and sandwich at a local brewing company that happens to be Match’s favorite, Lagunitas. They just opened up a tap room and the food is delicious, though a bit overpriced. Having spent the majority of our day out in the sun, one beer apiece had us buzzing pretty hard. I felt like such a lightweight!
When we got home I told Match that getting to spend the day with him made me feel like when we were first dating. It reminded me of all the fun we used to have on the weekends. He said he agreed, but he can tell that all our time apart has made us feel disconnected, almost as if we’re out of practice. We have to get to know each other again. I appreciate that he’s willing to stay up all day with me so we can have those little moments. Here’s hoping that this schedule doesn’t stay like this forever…I want more days like last Sunday.
