Escort Cards and Free Weekends
Ray Barone: You’re already planning the wedding?
Debra Barone: I’ve been planning it since I was 12.
Ray Barone: But you didn’t meet me until you were 22.
Debra Barone: Well, you’re the last piece of the puzzle. -Everybody Loves Raymond

Now that Match has started up his graveyard shift, Friday doesn’t have quite the same ring to it that it normally did. I’ll be alone for most of the weekend, because during the day Match will be sleeping, and at night he’ll be working. I’m no stranger to the alone weekends. When we first started dating, Match was gone at academy all the time, so this isn’t much different. And this way I at least get him for dinner! (more…)

Match and the Graveyard Shift
Cheerleader: I am never gonna be captain again!
Callie: You know, I was… I was fired from a job recently-
Cheerleader: You were fired from being a doctor and they let you cut open my ass?!
Callie: Okay, shut your trap for eight seconds and let me finish. I didn’t get fired from being a doctor, I got fired from being being like, well our version of squad captain. Which is mostly about organizing crap… not about surgery.
Cheerleader: So?
Callie: So, I got to go back to the part that I like… which is kind of a gift. -Grey’s Anatomy

Match started his new job this week, and the good news is we’re both thrilled to have him working again. The bad news is his schedule is completely opposite of mine. He’s working nights and doesn’t come home til I’m already at work. It could be worse-at least this way we do get to eat dinner together and visit a bit before he’s out the door at 10 to make his commute to work, right as I’m getting ready for bed. (more…)

Match & Chandler’s Birthday Party
Rachel: [answering the phone] Hello? Vegas? Yes, we would like some more alcohol. And you know, we would like some more beers, too… hello? Oh, wait… I forgot to dial!
[There is a knock at the door.]
Ross: That must be our alcohol and beers! -Friends

Saturday was Match and Chandler’s joint birthday party. It turned out to be such a blast! Where do I start with the shenanigans that was the party. At first, we just had a few people trickle in, starting with LAX Guy and Baker Chick. We got a chance to visit with them before Match’s cousin showed up as a surprise that I had planned. Match was so excited because he didn’t even know his cousin was in town. :-)

Then after about ten minutes, people just started pouring in. All of a sudden I was in full hostess mode, making pizzas, getting drinks for people, and loving every minute of it. Have I mentioned how much I love hosting parties? (more…)

The Wedding Planner

Julie: My wedding planner is a passive-aggressive nitwit who has the audacity to question my taste in music. Bob Seger is not “so over.” -The O.C.

No, I didn’t go out and drop tons of money on a Jennifer Lopez inspired wedding planner (that movie was horrific. That chick has the acting ability of a stick). I found a great website that is like having a virtual planner for everything wedding related. I like the simplicity of it, versus a lot of other planning sites out there. Their free wedding software breaks everything down, all of those little details involved in planning a wedding. I honestly had no idea there were so many things to think about! The engagement party, bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette parties, rehearsal, ceremony, reception, day after brunch, the honeymoon, the list goes on. (more…)

No Bridal Party

Phoebe: The coins have forgiven me!
Rachel: Yeah, well I hope Monica forgives you after you throw her
vegetarian, voodoo, goddess-circly shower! -Friends

When Match and I started planning the wedding we agreed we wouldn’t have a bridal party. We’re each others best friends, and we didn’t want to choose between our different groups of friends. Still, as I’ve said before, sometimes I do wish I had a best girl friend to help me out with all things bridal because there are a LOT. (more…)
