A Night Out With My Past

Some people believe that without history, our lives amount to nothing. At some point we all have to choose: do we fall back on what we know, or do we step forward to something new? It’s hard not to be haunted by our past. Our history is what shapes us… what guides us. Our history resurfaces time after time after time. So we have to remember sometimes the most important history is the history we’re making today. -Meredith, Grey’s Anatomy

Last night Birthday Twin and I hung out, just the two of us, for the first time in over a year. For those of you who don’t remember or know the story of  BT, here is some background.l_5d04a4f09d704582a08780e84ca04869

Birthday Twin cuddling with Monkey and me, two summers ago

Match and I moved recently, to the same town that Birthday Twin lives in. We’ve been talking about meeting up for a drink for weeks now, and last night we finally both had some free time. I met up with Birthday Twin at  his house and walked downtown to one of the local bars. As soon as I got to his house it was like no time had passed. We were just as comfortable as we’ve always been. Just two old friends hanging out together, and just like that, I was in my past.

Flying Solo This Weekend
Pacey: Hey, I’ve got nothing going on now. So how about we go for a walk around town together.
Andie: Yeah, what’s the joke?
Pacey: No joke, I’ve got no plans. And believe it or not, but I’d rather spend my time with you, than than flying solo. So pinch yourself, its your lucky day. You in? -Dawson’s Creek

Tomorrow Match is leaving for the fire station and won’t return until Sunday evening. He’s done an overnight at the fire house, but it was during the week. This will be the first time we’ve been apart for more than 24 hours since last year when I went to visit my family in Oregon. With our busy schedules, we haven’t had much of a chance for quality time in the last few weeks. Between midterms, social stuff, and work, it’s been go go go. I’m really craving some one on one time with Match, where we don’t have any obligations. Where we can sleep in and just laze around. (more…)

I’m Over the Top!
Sydney: It was a little over the top.
Will: Over the top? I’m wearing seat covering, there is no “over the top.” -Alias

One of my new readers, Michelle, at Things I Said and Meant to Say, gave me the Over the Top Award! She knows me too well already! ;-) The rules for accepting this award are to answer the questions below, and to nominate six other bloggers. Thanks Michelle!

over_the_top award

1. Where is your cell phone: Sitting on my desk because it’s my work blackberry, and of course I only use it for work…right…

2. Your hair: Is kind of a mess because I showered last night. But with the new color, it’s a prettier mess ;-)

3. Your mother: is way too far away and I’m missing her terribly. It’s been over a year since I last saw her and Christmas could not come fast enough. We do talk at least once a week though, and we’ve become incredibly close despite our distance. (more…)

Confessions of an Online Shopper
Lily: Yeah! Well…I read somewhere that compulsive shopping was a disease!
Sean: Cholera is a disease. Compulsive shopping is something a 16 year-old does when she wants to look cute for a party and someone gives her a credit card. -Grounded for Life

I’ve admitted that I hate shopping in stores. I have horribly flat feet that get sore from walking around for long periods of time. I hate lines. I hate screaming children who walk right in my foot path almost tripping my already clumsy self. So it should come as no surprise that I prefer to do my shopping online. I feel that lately as the economy has been slow, and when I’ve studied for a solid 5 hours and my brain is mush, my mouse every so slyly makes its way to my favorite online stores. Now, I’m not a person who overspends. I’m fairly frugal actually, and have been squirreling most of my money away for practical things like a house and a new car. (more…)

Auburn for Autumn
Paige: Ah, don’t worry, this blonde couldn’t hit the broad side of a beauty parlour. I mean, check out that dye job!
[The Stilman sisters gasp]
Mabel: How dare you! -Charmed

I took the plunge and dyed my hair! It was supposed to be sort of a light brown, and it turned out auburn, so it has hints of red in it. Match absolutely loves it, and says it brings out the color of my eyes so much more than my old hair color. The weird thing is, it almost looks more natural than the natural color. I took Pink Jelly Baby’s advice and blurred my face so you could see the full effect of the hair. The blur effect makes my face look like it melted, and it’s super creepy. Try to look past that and see the hair. What do you think? You know, besides the creepy melting face? Oh, and that first after picture is not of me in a badly decorated manufactured home. I’m actually in a karaoke bar getting ready to sing for the first time in months!
