Karen: So, how they hangin’, honey?Candy: Well, thanks to Dr. Kipper, three inches higher. Listen. As much as I’d love to stay here sweatin’ with the oldies, I’m getting a little woozy from the booze-y seeping from your enlarged pores.Karen: Oh, honey, they’re not enlarged. They’re just in shock over that hair color. –Will & Grace
So last weekend when I was out to lunch with Couple Wife we got to talking about our hair. I have natural blonde hair, but the more erm..”honey colored” hair. Which means that in the summer it looks great, with all of these natural highlights from the sun making it shine. But in the winter, it gets dull and lifeless, and that’s where the dreaded “dirty dishwater” nickname comes in. Sadly, it is so true. So I told her I was actually thinking about going brunette.
Here’s a little glimpse at my hair color now. It only really looks truly blonde when the sun catches it. Dishwater!!
Now here’s the hair back in July.
See the difference? If it were this color all the time, I’d love it. But alas, it is not.
Now, I don’t think I’ll go dark, but more of a medium brown, that will hopefully have some hints of red in the sun. Match really wants me to go red, but let’s face it, most bottled red heads look really fake. I think some blend of different hues should appease him without me looking like Bozo the Clown.
I’m taking the plunge this evening. CW is coming over and we’re going to shop around for the best color, and she’s going to dye it at home while our boys hang out and play the wii. CW has beautiful hair and she’s done the home dye job before so I trust that she won’t mess my hair up too badly.
I’ll post a before and after shot so you guys can see the results. I’ll have to get tricky with the camera since I’m not going to give you a glance at my face, even though I know you’re all dying to see what I look like right? 😉 It’s really nothing to write home about. I just love my anonymity and the ability to write freely. I’ll try to have pictures posted tomorrow.
The only other times I’ve dyed my hair were in college, when I went to hot pink streaks, and then florescent red tips, but both were wash out dyes so not quite as big of a deal.
What about you? Have any of you ever gone from blonde to brunette? Or brunette to blonde, or some other color? Did you do it yourself or go into a salon?
