I’ve never been one known for my spontenaity. I’m a planner. I make lists, I check them constantly, and I freak out when someone wants to do something last minute. That wasn’t in the itinerary!! Coast Sister understands this need for order, because she’s a lot like me (understatement of the year). So when our daydreaming of hanging out together turned into a texting frenzy on my unlocked phone, then IMing each other with, “really, should we do this?” and “Are we crazy?!” it was about as out of character as we could possibly get. “Oh my god I wrecked your baby!” -Monica, Friends

Last night turned out to be much better than I thought it would. We went over to Couple Friends and finally got to meet Couple Baby. Couple Wife’s friend that was visiting was really nice, and I felt comfortable around her instantly. Couple Baby was one of the cutest newborns I’ve ever seen. You know how most newborns are all red and wrinkly when they’re brand new? This baby was all smooth and adorable. I’m terrified of newborns because of how fragile they are, so when Couple Wife’s friend asked me to hold him, I was freaked out. Plus, the baby was 9 pounds, 9 ounces when he was born, and super long, huge for a newborn. I just couldn’t help thinking of that Friends episode Monica accidentally bumps her baby nephew’s head and he tattles on her, “Monica bang.” I just kept thinking, I’m going to break their baby, and then this newborn is going to tell on me. I can’t believe we have two more SPT 8 challenges left. Who would have thought one little number would be so evasive? Luckily I bring my cell phone with me everywhere, and I managed to snap a shot while walking Monkey. My firefighter boyfriend can tell you the exact name of this contraption. Me, I just call it the hydrant looking thingy. Anyways, what first caught me was the “El Barto” tag. I just thought it was funny and ridiculously old school.

As I walked towards it to get a better look, low and behold! The elusive 8! So there ya have it. El Barto struck again. I know, kind of a random, boring SPT, but at least I didn’t take a picture of Lortone rock tumblers or something. But with the struggles I’m having finding 8s, I just might have to.

Last night Match and I agreed to go bowling with LAX Guy and Baker Chic. I wasn’t thrilled about it because the few times we’ve hung out with them, BC has been incredibly boring. She’s really quiet, and I find myself filling the awkward silences with nervous awkward chitchat, and I always feel stupid. It’s a bummer too, because LAX is a really cool guy. Match ended up bribing me by telling me that there is karaoke at the bar inside the bowling alley. (more…)
