A Very Mellow Valentine’s Day
Harper: Love is just a bunch of exaggerating and lies, all dolled up in pseudo-poetic language (uttered preferably while intoxicated) and all for the singular universal purpose of… uh, you know.
Trance: [laughing] Harper, you’re a born romantic!
Harper: [hesitantly] Sometimes there are flowers? -Andromeda

Just as I planned, our Valentine’s Day was very low key. Match and I shared a yummy dinner, exchanged cards, and watched the movie Juno. He did surprise me with a beautiful bouquet of red tulips, which I love! I love that they’re not roses, and they’re different than what 90% of guys out there buy. (more…)

Grateful for the Weekend
Michael: Guys! Beef: it’s what’s for dinner! Who wants some man meat?
Dwight: I do! I want some man meat!
Jim: Michael, Dwight would like your man meat.
Michael: Well then, my man meat he shall have.  -The Office

I’m happy to say I’m finally on the mend. This sickness really kicked me in the bum. I’m starting to look forward to the weekend, and I’m so happy it’s Friday.
Saturday will mark my first Valentine’s Day with Match, and I think like New Year’s, we’re going to keep it low key. We are still both getting over being sick, and we’re just going to stay in. Still, I think it may be possible to make it romantic. I am planning on making one of the first dinners we every made together: seared ahi tuna, wild rice, and caprese salad. I think we’ll follow it with red wine and brownies, because you have to have chocolate on Valentine’s Day!

Sick of Being Sick

Before I start, I just wanna say that I have a cold, so if I sneeze in the middle of a song, it’s not on purpose. Oh, except the last verse of “Pepper people.” -Phoebe, Friends

Well I’m still home sick, but today I’m at least working. There’s just something about sitting around at home doing nothing that will drive a girl insane. I have a really hard time resting, but this flu has wiped me out. I’ve barely had the energy to get out of bed much less do anything else. My sweetie Match has been so great-he’s been feeling better and has been taking care of the house. He did everything from cooking dinner last night to cleaning up and doing the dishes. What a guy huh?
I’ll just be happy when I’m up and on my feet again. At least my job let’s me work at home, which is so nice. I guess that’s what’s nice about system admin careers is that ability to remote into our system and do what I need to do from the comfort of my couch. Think healthy thoughts for me so that I’m all better by Valentine’s Day!

Couple-itis

George: Could this place be any further away? It’s like Siberia down here.
Daisy: That’s because we don’t like sick people.
George: You do know you’re in a hospital, right? -Grey’s Anatomy

The trip to Seattle was a lot of fun-we got to see the sights, and we spent some much needed couple time together. We both realized that we’re not big on cities, but it was still fun to experience a new place together.

A Much Needed Get Away

Rachel: No way! The most romantic song ever was The Way We Were.
Phoebe: Uh, see, I… I think the one that Elton John wrote for, um, that guy on “Who’s the Boss?”
Rachel: What song was that, Pheebs?
Phoebe: Um, Hold Me Close, Young Tony Danza.
-Friends

As some of you may recall from my Christmas post, Match’s parents got us round trip tickets to Seattle as one of our gifts. We’ve both been stressed with Match’s grueling schedule, and we really needed some time away for just the two of us, without visiting family or friends, a vacation just for us. So this Wednesday we’re headed to The Emerald City in search of fun and a little time to relax and be together as a couple.
