Date GirlMatch Guy broke, financial stress, male ego, The Nanny
- Mr. Sheffield: Niles, I cannot believe Ms. Fine is going on a cruise just because some psychic told her she had a date with destiny. Would you pay someone if they only tell you what you want to hear?
- Niles: Absolutely, sir. You are so clever. And witty. And handsome. -The Nanny
Lately things have been really hard for Match financially. Between working full time for his mom, interning for free at the firehouse, and going to school part time, he has had zero time to work on studying for his real estate license, which would give him a significant raise at work. He can’t take a second job, because there aren’t 36 hours in the day. He barely has enough time to come home and eat dinner and sleep, much less do anything else. So the last thing I want him to worry about is money.

Date GirlMatch Guy Mad Men, moving, new place
Teddy told me that in Greek, nostalgia literally means the pain from an old wound. It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a space ship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, forwards. It takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called a wheel, it’s called a carousel. It lets us travel the way a child travels. Round and a round, and back home again. To a place where we know we are loved. -Don Draper, Mad Men
We did it! We finally moved out of our crappy apartment and into our new place. My cousin described it as a loft rather than an apartment and I agree. It’s above a garage, so we don’t have to worry about walking softly when we’re upstairs. It’s also above our garage, so we’ve got tons of storage space, and room to do our artwork.

Date GirlMatch Guy How I Met Your Mother, traditions
A muffin, a bagel and a bag of chips. And I know it’s way past noon but I love you. More and more each day I love you Lily. -Marshal, How I Met Your Mother
Match is done with academy (yay) but that doesn’t mean he’s done with his education. He still has two semesters left before he gets his AS in Fire Science, so that means he’s gone again on weeknights. It’s nothing like academy, but it’s still a bummer when he heads off to class. While he’s at class, I usually catch up on my tv show watching. I don’t like to force him to watch the silly sitcoms that I adore, so I save them to watch on my own online. So last night I was watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother and texting Coast Sister. The episode was so sweet, and by the end of it I was all teary eyed. More

Date GirlMatch Guy Charmed, fire academy, firefighter, fireman, future, graduation, lease
Phoebe: Come on, you and Greg? Put out any fires lately?
Piper: Is that supposed to be a subtle fireman reference?
Paige: Wait a minute. You’re going out with a fire-fighter?
-Charmed
Today Match officially graduated from the fire academy. He’s now a fireman, and I’m so unbelievably proud of him. I got really dressed up for his graduation, because I wanted him to be proud to have me on his arm. I was excited because the last two weeks of the gym have really paid off. And I didn’t even have to take diet pills to do it! Woohoo! I think it paid off because I got a few looks when I walked past the recruits into the auditorium. After the ceremony Match couldn’t stop kissing me and beaming at me. He whispered that I was the prettiest girl there.

Date GirlMatch Guy How I Met Your Mother, moving
Robin: The key? Throwing stuff out. I’m moving to Japan, and it took me a half-hour to pack.
Lily: A half-hour?
Robin: Well, it would have taken me twenty minutes, but a friend called me in tears.
Marshall: Moving is really emotional, okay?! -How I Met Your Mother
I don’t have much to write about at the moment. My life is full of moving boxes, change of address forms, and packing tape. On top of the impending move, I’m still trying to keep up somewhat of a social life, as I’ve grossly neglected my friends. Match and I have plans going every night this week and weekend, in between packing. Oh, and I’m also trying to stick with my weight loss New Year’s resolution, so I’ve also been hitting the gym four times a week. Whew! With all this running around, I feel like I’m taking a fat burning pill like Leptovox. I just hope it pays off with a slimmer waist.
The one nice thing about all this running around is that Match is just as on top of things as I am. He scheduled the lease signing, and he already took care of the getting the cable moved. I couldn’t ask for a better roommie.
