Murray: Don’t stand next to any big magnets.
Jemaine: Why would I stand next to big magnets, Murray?
Murray: Well, I don’t know what you do in your personal life. -Flight of the Conchords
Since the Christmas season is all about giving, I decided to do just that awhile back. My friend that lives in Michigan, whom I like to call the Stray Taker (because she has a soft spot for both animals and people down on their luck) has fibromyalgia. It’s this crazy condition where the person is in pain most of the time. It breaks my heart to hear when she’s having an attack, and I always wish there were something I could do. Then I heard about these cool magnetic bracelets, which are supposed to help treat those who suffer from aches and pains, especially associated with fibromyalgia. I decided it was worth a try, so I sent one out to ST.
We both joked around about it having a placebo effect, and practicing that
oh so powerful positive thinking. So far she said she hasn’t noticed a difference in her fibro symptoms, but she said she is going to give it some time. Plus, she loved the fact that I got it for her, and thought of her. Who knows, it just might work in the long term, and if it does, awesome! If not, at least she has a cute new bracelet!
