New Year’s Eve Plans

Who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It’s not on the calendar, it’s not a birthday, it’s not a new year, it’s an event —big or small, something that changes us, ideally it gives us hope, a new way of living and looking at the world, letting go of old habits, old memories. What’s important is that we never stop believing we can have a new beginning, but it’s also important to remember amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to. -Meredith, Grey’s Anatomy

I’ve been looking forward to New Year’s Eve with Match pretty much since we first started dating. There’s just something about New Year’s eve that seems romantic to me. Ringing in the New Year with the one you love, kissing at midnight, all of that. I’ve had some pretty lame New Year’s in the past, and I was hoping this one would be different. Well we caught the nasty cold bug that’s going around, so both of us are feeling pretty lousy. More

Bailey: I’m pregnant, you blind moron.
Chief: You’re what?
Bailey: My heart rate is 110, I’m burning three thousand calories a day, my legs are swollen, I got indigestion and gas. Did you know carrying a boy in your uterus means you burn ten percent more calories than if you had a girl? Guess what I’m carrying. I tried for seven damn years and a month before my fellowship notifications the stick turns blue. Men… from the very beginning they just suck the life right out of you. I’m not leaving. I’m pregnant. -Grey’s Anatomy

Last night Match and I went over to our Couple Friends house to play games. It’s crazy to see how far along Couple Wife is getting in the pregnancy. She looks great-she’s all belly, and in my opinion hasn’t gained anywhere else. If you listened to her though, she thinks she’s as big as a house. More

Ted: Now, don’t tell your parents, but I got you guys presents.
Nephew: Like the gift of God’s love?
Ted: No, dude, real presents. -How I Met Your Mother

I had by far the best Christmas I can remember. The best part was the morning, when Match and I had our own little Christmas with just the two of us. We actually did stockings on the 23rd because we just couldn’t wait. We both had the same thought and put naughty things in each other’s stockings. He got me a fun toy for the both of us (yippee!) and I got him a deck of cards with the positon of the day on them. Now that was an exciting game of gin rummy! ;-) More

Chandler: I remember my father dressed in the red suit, the big black boots and the patent leather belt, sneaking around downstairs. He didn’t want anybody see him, but he’d be drunk, so he’d stumble crash into something and wake everybody up.
Rachel: Well, that doesn’t sound like a very merry Christmas.
Chandler: Who said anything about Christmas? -Friends

Today I had to work, even though it was the day after Christmas, on a Friday. No one was on the freeway or at the office buildings near mine. Even in my own office, all of the computer desks were empty except for mine. In a way it was nice because I was able to upload lots of pictures from this crazy holiday week. I didn’t do much of anything, and my boss took pity on me and let me leave at noon. More

What We Need to Be Happy

Everyone wants stuff. We wake up everyday with a list of wishes a mile long and maybe we spend our lives trying to make those wishes come true. But just because we want them doesn’t mean we need them to be happy. -Ned, Pushing Daisies

Yesterday Match and I enjoyed a great Sunday together. We have had so little time these last 6 months, between work, Match’s academy, and our busy social life, we actually haven’t been on that many real dates.
