In some ways we grow up. We have families, we get married, divorced, but for the most part, we still have the same problems that we did when we were fifteen. No matter how much we grow taller, grow older, we are still forever stumbling, forever wondering, forever young. -Meredith, Grey’s Anatomy
Friday night Match and I went to the city, and it was such a blast! We got to see my old friend Bambino, a friend from college that I’ve known for a little over 5 years. Just like I promised Match, they got along great. I loved Bambino’s place because it was one of those bar/restaurant’s that makes you feel like family. We sat at the bar and ate our food while Bambi mixed us drinks and chatted it up with us. Another couple came in and sat with us and we all started talking like old friends. I’m really going to miss that place! Bambino got Match pretty buzzed, which I’d warned him about. On the way home he was tickling me and giggling and telling me how much he needed the stress relief.
Saturday morning poor Match had to once again get up early and go to class. Me on the other hand-I had a Date Girl Pampering Day. Remember a few months ago for my birthday Match bought me 2 one hour massage sessions? Well I finally took advantage of the gift certificate, and spent Saturday getting the best massage of my life. I’m telling you-it was unbelievable. I felt kind of guilty because the massage therapist was a guy, and I felt like I shouldn’t be getting this much pleasure from another man touching me, hahah! I really want to buy Match a massage because he’s never had a professional massage in his life. Can you believe that? I was going to do it for his Christmas present, but I think with all his stress, he might need one sooner. And who says I can’t buy my man a present just because? So I think I just might have to spring it on him in a week or so, if I can scrounge up the dough.
After my morning massage I headed over to the salon and chopped off an inch off my hair and got some cute layers. Then I went home and baked banana bread, Match’s favorite.
I’ve also been trying to figure out how to lose weight and stay in shape, without having to sacrifice some of my favorite things-like dessert. 🙂 So I have been trying to sneak in a small workout everyday, even if it’s just walking. I took Monkey for a nice long walk along a creek near our apartment, and then came home and relaxed.
Match and I had plans to go visit my good friends Old Married Couple that night, and I was really looking forward to it. Match has spent some time with them before, but we’ve never hung out just the four of us, which is the best way to get to know them. I’ve known Old Married Couple for over 5 years now: we went to college together, and they used to be roommates with Best Friend, who I met them through. They’re also really close to Brazil and her hubby, and Bambino. I call them Old Married Couple because they are one of those rare couples who have been together since high school. They waited until after college to get married, but they’ve always been that Old Married Couple. We’ve stayed close all these years, and even though we don’t hang out as much as we used to, I know we’ll always be friends.
After a late start from Match (poor guy had to pick up his parents at the airport right after class, and then rush home), we finally arrived at Old Married Couple’s house. We had such a fun time-we brought Monkey because they have an adorable lil Min Pin named Chloe. Monkey and Chloe are the same age and have known each other since they were puppies. The dogs played while the parents drank wine and visited. We had a great dinner, with easy conversation, and then we headed to the living room where we rocked out to Rock Band. It’s funny because in some ways we’ve definitely all gotten older and really grown up, but you can never take out the kids in OMC. Match was hesitant to play the game because he has this complex where he has to succeed at everything he does. It’s the only complaint I really have about Match-that he puts too much pressure on himself. Finally after being harassed long enough, he busted out the guitar, and he actually did pretty good for the first time. It was a great night, and Match really got along well with them both, which made me so happy. I know we’ll be hanging out with them again soon, and it’s nice to finally have a guy that I can bring around, instead of always feeling like the third wheel.
Tonight Match and I plan on just relaxing at the house and doing nothing, something the poor guy really needs. I had a great time getting out of the house, and it meant so much to me that Match met Bambino and got to know OMC better. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. 🙂
