Feeling Safe at Home
Robin: Oh, my God. You’ve been robbed.
Ted: Nope. Just got rid of all my old girlfriend stuff.
Robin: All that stuff was from your exes? Didn’t you buy any stuff of your own?
Ted: What can I say? Papi got swag. -How I Met Your Mother

Last night Match’s dad and I got to talking over dinner about dogs. His dad likes to retell stories, and this one was one of my favorites. He grew up with an Afghan that was fairly aggressive, and in this case it paid off. Their house got broken into by a burglar, and the guy only managed to take a few steps before the dog had slammed him into the wall, literally. He was stuck in the drywall when Match’s grandparents found him and were able to call the police. Not a bad home security system!

I’m So Thankful

Gratitude, appreciation, giving thanks. No matter what words you use, they all mean the same thing. Happy. We’re supposed to be happy. Grateful for friends, family. Happy just to be alive. -Meredith, Grey’s Anatomy

Last night we had Thanksgiving dinner with Match’s entire family: aunts, uncles, cousins, the works. It was all so comfortable and easy for me, and I had such a nice time visiting with everyone. Match could walk away and talk to other people and I was perfectly content to make conversation on my own. I really hit it off with Match’s cousins, and at one point we all gathered around baby books of Match and his sis, and had a great time laughing at all the embarrassing photos. (more…)

Every Girl Needs a Lil Jewelry

Logan: I got a surprise for you… cover your eyes
Max: Is it a new carburetor? It is, isn’t it.
Logan: No.
Max: Flowers? Jewelry?
Logan: Since when do you wear jewelry?
Max: I’m open to the idea!
-Dark Angel

I’ve never been one to wear a lot of jewelry, but ever since Match put the idea in my head, I can’t stop thinking about it. I guess even us non-girlie girls are allowed moments to be, well, girlie.

In my never ending search for engagment rings, I came across this great website, with everything from diamond jewelry to sapphire jewelry, my birthstone.

Daydreaming of Something Shiny

One of the 24 similarities between women and fish are they’re both attracted to shiny objects. You really never read my blog do you? -Barney, How I Met Your Mother

Last night Match, his sister, and I went out for burgers and beer at one of the local breweries in town. It was a nice evening, pretty laid back, and chance to get to know Match Sister better. We’re planning to have a small house party at our new place next month, maybe just a game night with Match Sister, Couple Friends, Nice Guy, Birthday Twin, and Old Married Couple. I can’t wait till we’re all moved into the house and finally have the room for everyone to hang out. What’s nice about moving in with Brazil is she’s already friends with Old Married Couple, and she gets along with new people easily.

Being a Part of the Family

Every American family has its own unique blend of personalities, my family was no exception. Within our four suburban walls we ranged the full spectrum of types. From the flamboyant, to the demure. From the repellant, to the ideal. Somehow, we managed to fit together in a kind of fragile alliance. One for all, and all for one. -Narrator, The Wonder Years

Last night I met Match’s sister for the first time, and it went far better than I could have hoped for. I was nervous at first, but Match just told me to relax and be myself.
