Date Girl: The Movie

It was like something from an old movie, where the sailor sees the girl across the crowded dance floor, turns to his buddy and says, “See that girl? I’m gonna marry her someday.”-Ted, How I Met Your Mother

So I was chatting with Mama Drama about if the Date Girl Diaries were a movie. We were trying to come up with who would play the cast, and we were having fun with it. Even Match got involved! So I thought it would be fun if you guys played the game with us.

Pumpkin Carving Perfection
Robin: How can a pumpkin costume be sexy?
Ted: It was carved in strategic locations. -How I Met Your Mother

Match and I finally went to his parents house last night. It was nice to stop by, but because of my stupid itchy legs, I wasn’t the most comfortable in the world. Still, their house is not hot and stuffy like our apartment, so we were able to relax on the couch and watch our favorite channel, Home & Garden TV. We love those home improvement shows they have, especially house hunters. I think they give good advice for new home owners like we will hopefully be one day. It amazes me the little things you can do to update a house too, even if it’s just changing from industrial knobs on the kitchen cabinets to something a little more modern. I know, I’m a huge dork, but home improvement and housewares is to me what shoe shopping is to most women. I just love it!

My Itchy Weekend
Dr. Wyatt: What is going on?
Trevor: Love reborn, sugarplum. It’s like a bad rash, you know? Can’t be stopped. Goes away, comes back…
Dr. Wyatt: Itches.
Trevor: But it’s damn gratifying to scratch. -Cupid

Match’s parents are out of town for the next two weeks, and we had planned on housesitting their place. I love his parents house! Not only is it huge, but they have a pool and a hot tub. I planned on spending my evenings when Match is at the academy curled up in his mother’s rocking chair (the one she’s going to give me when I have Match’s kids, hehe) with a good book and a cup of apple cider. Their house is up on a hill overlooking the valley and all of the trees are starting to change color for the fall. Have I mentioned that fall is my favorite time of year? If Match and I get engaged, I want us to get married in the fall.

A Rift Between Us
Liz: I don’t want to do this stuff but I have to because you’re so insecure you get jealous of babies for their soft skin!
Jenna: And how much attention they get. -30 Rock

This week has been pretty uneventful for Match and I. I’ve been spending the last few days recovering from my run, and now I can finally walk normally, yay! Friday we are going to try to sit down and carve pumpkins, one of my favorite parts of Halloween. I tried on my Alice costume and it fits pretty well. It’s even pretty accurate to the movie-all I need are some blue contact lenses to hide my green eyes and I’m Alice! Ok, I won’t go that extreme, but it’d be cool. I always thought it’d be fun to have contacts, but my fear of touching my eyeballs has always prevented me from them.

He Made Me Feel Like a Winner
Roxanne: The marathon is great, isn’t it?
Jerry: Yes, particularly if you’re not in it. -Seinfeld

Yesterday was the big day-my half marathon. Match couldn’t be there because of the academy :-( and Reality Check had bailed on me early on, so it was just me driving out to the city. I was nervous and jittery all weekend, and had an added stress of car issues right before my trip. I guess I had worn the brakes down pretty bad on my car, due to all the hard drives for work; the hour long commuting I do daily, the trips to San Francisco, and the most recent trip to Tahoe really did a number on them. So almost $800 later, I picked up my car and headed to San Francisco. Needless to say, my spirits were pretty down. Knowing that I wasn’t going to have anyone to hug me after crossing that finish line didn’t help. I was starting to really throw myself a pity party, but then I talked to Match and he made me feel better. Still, it was hard to get to sleep the night before the race.
