The Resurrection of Our Social Life

Hold on to your bedsores grandparents from Willy Wonka! -Barney, How I Met Your Mother

Match and I have been in a social rut. Things with us are great, but we realized we’ve been pretty big homebodies. So we dusted off our night clothes and headed out for a drink at the local Irish Pub. We were cracking up before we left because Match said it was getting late, and we looked at the clock, and it wasn’t even 8:30. We are such grandparents.

We opted to walk downtown so we could both drink and save some money on gas, so we set off into the night. As we got closer to downtown, we passed a Filipino transvestite who may have also been a hooker. He/She was wearing a skirt that barely covered his/her ass, and enough makeup for a whole classroom of teenage girls. Ah, California, you gotta love it.

We met up with Nice Guy and Reality Check for a few rounds of Liar’s Dice over drinks. Apparently not going out and not drinking hard alcohol on a regular basis has drastically reduced my tolerance. I had only about half of my White Russian and I was already feeling tipsy. Reality Check said I was hysterical because I was having trouble adding my dice, and when I tried shaking my cup, my dice went flying. I guess you have to cover the cup with your hand first if you want them to stay in there. 😉

On the walk home, Match and I were saying how we’re such an old couple because we can’t seem to stay up late. It was only 11, and we were both exhausted. Passing a couple pushing two strollers, I couldn’t help but think that at least we weren’t in their shoes. With how tired I’ve been feeling lately, if I had a baby, it would have to push me! Hopefully by the time we’re ready for babies we’ll get our second wind of energy.

So keeping in the spirit of our social resurrection, tonight I’m throwing Match a housewarming party. We finally got the rest of Match’s stuff in, including his futon. I had a little trouble getting it through the door. 😉

We still have to hang a few pictures, but the apartment definitely feels like home. I’ve invited both my friends and Match’s, and this will be the first time a lot of them have met. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. I’m hoping we can get a rousing game of Apples to Apples going. I know, I know, our parties are so wild and crazy, hehe, we’re out of control!
